I was given a can of Penn Marathon tennis balls to try out the other day. Top of the can said to pre order in January.
Stated advantages: brighter, more durable, (can't remember the 3rd)....
Anyway, I liked the ball. My favorite balls were/are the HEAD ATP, Slazenger Wimbledon ball, Prince Tour. Next level for me is the Wilson Open, and Penn ATP ball.
I thought this Marathon was a bit better than the WO and PATP.
It is very bright and durable - held the compression pretty well and did not fluff up too badly nor did it thin out, either.
Ball plays a little harder than the 1st three I mentioned but overall I liked it a fair bit.
I played two sets of singles + a 10 point tie break. Kept the balls in a "re-new" container and played two sets of doubles + another tie break.
Clay Courts
4.0 singles and three of us were 4.5 doubles.....
