New Prestige Pro coming prestrung?

Has anyone heard of a brand new Head Youtek Prestige Pro coming from the factory already strung? I bought one from a fellow forum member and it came with the cardboard inset and plastic on the handle, but it was prestrung! ???
Since when does Head factory prestring high end racquets like the Prestige?
Should I be worried?

most racquets into the UK come pre strung with something. Was it bought from this way?

From my knowledge ( Correct me if i'm wrong ) , they haven't made fake Prestiges.

I know of several shops locally that also received some Head Prestige and Radicals that were pre strung with Sonic Pro (black) with the cardboard placard over the strings.

that's what it has....Sonic Pro black. I just have never seen anything other than low end Target or Kmart racquets come prestrung. I am not sure of the point though? If you are serious enough about your tennis to be buying a Prestige in the first place....wouldn't you restring it immediately?

One plus of a pre-strung racquet is that the grommets will be set, especially if you hit with the cheap string for 20 minutes, then re-string with yours.

Sonic Pro isn't "cheap string", but you never know how long its been sitting in the racquet and I know hitting with dead poly isn't smart.

I shudder to think anyone would suspect that their cheaper, TT forum-sourced racket would be non-genuine, just because it looks different than what they expect. In some markets, the frames come pre-strung and unstrung frames are the exception rather than the norm. Other more vociferous board members would probably instigate a witch hunt about the matter you describe and unfairly dump on the seller.

look....I never said anything about it not being genuine. I was merely asking because I have bought over 20 racquets from this forum and have never seen this before.

I might be wrong, but I don't think it will go 'dead' just sitting there..

yes poly's will "die" just from sitting around. The problem is I have no idea exactly when the racquet was strung....could be 2 weeks ago...could be 3 months ago...no way to know. I guess I could hit with it and see how it feels?

Not if you really like Sonic Pro Black. :)

hi jack, bit OT but just catching up on you guys again. i see you've moved on to vx8 and considering the PP. What's behind it? I've had my longest stint for a while with a racket (exo3 graphite 100) and playing well with it but hankering for something heavier too and maybe a bit more control. Considering a return to 95d (my 89 Tours are too tough in a match), Prestige Pro like you but the slightly lighter youtek version rather than IG or maybe a step up to the C10 Pro).

ps. as others have mentioned, pretty much all rackets in the UK come strung. Sonic Pro is the standard for Heads here.

I used to work in the tennis section at a big (green) sports store and we were selling BLX tour 90's some strung with stamina and some with hollow core. We sold way too many of those things, we also had 50 exo3 rebel 95 when I started and never sold one in the 6 months I was there. Not a single one. (I guess no one likes La Monf anymore)

Also thought I would mention that this company offers the best stringing deal in ATL, $10 strung by a legit MRT

I got a fresh IG Prestige Pro from Head in Sweden and it was prestrung with Sonic Pro with a DT of 31,5 after 1 hour of play

The stringing from the Head factory is pretty good actually and fully playable if you like harder tension.

I didnt like the stringbed this tight. The Prestige Pro felt like a frying pan. I´m going to restring it with a softer poly at mid to low 40´s

Hey David. Yes its the lighter YT PP. Great feeling racquet...sweetspot hits feel sublime. Really grooving with the X8 though. Anyone who likes the PDR owes it to themselves to try it out. Gives you everything the PDR does with more arm comfort.
