"BRAND NEW" PRO STAFF 6.0 85 St. Vincent (mint condition)

** This is not a for sale thread ***

I just wanted to share some photos, that I found online, of what a new condition (i.e. never strung, never used) St. Vincnet PS 6.0 85 looks like..

Enjoy! :p

It's a beauty! But I'm lucky that it's not for me. I just cannot handle the weight/balance/stiffness of a St. Vincent. Therefore I had to sell mine.

From the 2nd pic it seems it has a bumper guard. So which version does not have a bumper? This must have been mentioned before but I'm too lazy to search through old threads.

It looks just like the one I got almost mint for $150, although mine has stickers on the inside. This one doesn't.

The person selling this particular one writes:

  • Made in St. Vincent.
  • The three letter butt cap code is AUQ.
  • This racquet is an ex shop display item in mint/brand new, never played with and never strung condition.
  • The gripsize is 4 1/4, L2.
  • This racquet is from the last batch manufactured at the renowned St.Vincent factory.

^^^ yeah, I was going to say, it is a late model Vincent. I'm not surprised the seller stated it is from the last batch.

lighting?

..maybe improper white balance setting on the camera?

maybe, but I have seen all sorts of pics of these racquets. If you look closely at the stickers, they are a deep black. I am not suggesting its not real, but I have to say its weird.

what makes a st. vincent different than normal PS60. How can you identify the difference?

Update

but why is it almost a charcoal gray color?

The seller posted this:

..this racquet has never been played with. The shop owner I bought it from about 10 years ago, explained to me that it was a never strung item..

..I can assure you, there are no traces to indicate that to me either. (grommets, grommet channels)

About the grip. It has no grip folie on it, therefore it's not in factory clean condition. But it definetely has no real stains or dirty marks either. Optical I would give the grip a 9.75 out of 10, The leather however has been touched several times..

..The racquet in real life is darker to the pictures in auction. I had a couple of questions about that. It has something to do with my camera settings..

f.y.i. About a day left for auction, and this item is currently at $445

:D

Sampras used the St Vincent...
I have never actually played with any other PS 6.0 than those made at ST Vincent facility so I cant speak about the differences in how they play.

I think he is going to put it in a time capsule, bury it in his backyard for the future generations ....

I can't see myself playing with a $1,000-racquet unless, of course, it guarantees to make me more money. :)

I'm surprised at the tension range on this stick: 50-60 lbs.

Earlier SVs had much higher ranges, including 65-70 and 55-65. Presumably all SVs had the same construction and used the same materials -- could Wilson have reduced the recommended tension range that much in the later ones? Did they? What was the range of the Taiwan-made and early China-made 85s?

Can any SV experts enlighten the rest of us?

J & C - You weren't that far off, actually.

I was watching the auction because I happened to be at the computer when it was coming to a close.

The price went from around $460 to $556 in the last few minutes. Then within ten seconds to the end the winning bidder laid down a bid and it shot up to $960. Seems as if a couple of people wanted it pretty bad.

Apart from the condition, I wonder if the gripsize has anything to do with it. An L2 wasn't all that common back then. I wonder what it would have gone for if it had the plastic on the handle and included hang tags.......

man.. I missed it. I wanted to watch it too.. but I was at the park with my family.

I've won a few items on that really big auction site, and I can tell you, my heart races and I get a few butterflies in my stomach when I'm ready to click on the confirm bid button with less than 10 seconds left.. I wonder how the bidders on that particular auction must have felt.. ;)

haha must have been a rush for all those involved.

No St. Vincent frame had plastic on handle, nor am I sure that late St. Vincent frames had hangtags. Maybe a Fairway hangtag if that. Another thing missing in the 100-point inspection might be a rectangular "ST. VINCENT" sticker on the butt cap, but maybe this frame didn't come with it either. Anyway, pretty sweet frame! I think I'll list my three-times-strung L4 in the evening.

In 15 years this thread will be replaced by the Babolat Pure Drive and people will be shelling out $1000 for one :)

Only if Babolat shuts down it's current factory, and the No. 1 player in the World sets new Grand Slam records with it.. ;)

..you never know. In 20-25 years, the World will be a different place. China will have grown into an economic and trade powerhouse.. And when that happens, companies will always find a cheaper place to make stuff in the World. ;)

this is to the guy who posted this thread if u hav a k90 compare the two and say if they are the same or not to put allthis pj stuff on fedz racquet to an end please.!!

Here we go again...

Here's another "BRAND NEW" PS 6.0 85 St. Vincent on that really big auction site (Item number: 290108496269):

Considering the price of the last one ($960), how much do you think this one will go for?

I think this one will go about $1200USD :) my guess ! I wish I can own one of this~

Another one.. (not mine)

$2,024.99!

(for 3 racquets, Item number: 180146436369 at you know where.)

NOTE: this is NOT a "FOR SALE" post.

The "sale" ended. I just wanted to share this with you guys - what 3 "Brand New" (as in "never strung") Wilson Pro Staff 6.0 85 St. Vincents went for.

A lot of 3 MINT PS 85 SV just sold for $2,024.00 or about $675 each. Considering the previous "BRAND NEW" SV (Item number: 290108496269) sold for $898.89, the winner of this auction got a pretty good deal.

Butt caps codes are: AMQ, ANQ, BXQ

I think it's likely that these racquets will remain new forever (i.e. they will never be used !)
