New ProKennex frames coming 4/20?

PK is advertising a 4/20 release date for their new racquets. Any details on these and if this release date applies to the US as well?

New PJs are actually pretty nice for PK. They are up on their instagram page.

PKs and cool paint jobs are rarely hand in hand. Part of the allure - show up with crappy PJ frame and kill it anyway.

We just received samples of the new Prokennex racquets but an official launch date has not been communicated to us yet. Cheers, Chris, TW
Big thanks, Chris. Just wanted to get some word, either way. I hope you’re on the review of the q+5 pro if there is one.

It’s very possible that Chris’s and the entire @TW Staff ‘s minds have been blown by this latest Italian offering and have gone off the grid for a while to process their thoughts and return to normalcy.

But yeah, would love to hear what samples you got and any impressions on the new changes to the Q+5Pro (if you have one).

There is a new Q+ 5 Pro. The target spec for this one is 5g heavier and we are noticing around a 10 point higher swingweight in our samples. We've not hit them yet.
Cheers, Chris, TW

A legend that remains in my bag, too. Curious if the new Q+5 Pro XL stick can unseat it for XL supremacy.

Is there a lockdown in Taiwan due to COVID? It is Deja Vu all over again. o_O X Files reruns are on the telly [yea!], but could be a case of Alien Abduction. :alien:

One week away gents. And we have the NFL draft to carry some of us through this week of anticipation as well.

@TW Staff will you all be reviewing or discussing these epic new frames? Apparently already selling like hotcakes in Taiwan.

@TW Staff looks like some of us will have the q+5pro by Monday and beat you all the the punch on the reviews. Lol.

Is there a chance you may review the new q+tour? The 300 gram model looks rather unique. PK is making some frame that really have some intriguing specs.

We are planning to playtest the Black Ace Pro, but I'm not sure about any others. I'll pass along the note of interest in the Q+ models.

Thanks,
Tiffani, TW
Tiffani, I got my hands on the new Q+5Pro from TWE and it is a bit different than the prior version. Higher SW and I suspect the Twistweight has gone up as the frame feels more stable. The feel of the frame is also more plush and it (like it's predecessor) is a rather unique frame with amazing feel and big power for being so comfortable and having a thin beam.

The Q+5 pro is a rather unique frame that I think a ton of players will love. I am still preferring the prior, whippier model but I could see this new one being a big hit with stronger players if it was a Head/Wilson/Babo release.

Anyway, interested in if you all get a chance to try it out. Apparently the XL version is easier to wield, which could make that one a big time sleeper. @JGads can comment more there. He is now the official PK ambassador, per Andreas Seppi.

Someone get the new banana Q+5x Pro into the hands of Mark Boone immediately. He's an XL fiend, like me, and I suspect he could love this one. The posted specs of this frame on TWE did not align with the samples offered me from TWE when I ordered up matching service. All swingweights below 300 unstrung, and I ended up with a pair of 295s and one 297. With the 305 starting weight and that kind of swingweight, it's amazingly manageable and whippy for an XL, but offers XL sting.

Don't know what to make of the specs being off from TWE's listed spec vs the samples actually given to me (which closer match PK's target specs for the frame on their own website), but something I thought I would point out.

Anyway, this banana is a Booney Special.

Hey JGads!

Thanks for the feedback! Depends on which spec, and whether you're dealing w/strung or unstrung. For instance, an unstrung SW of 295 is inline with the strung SW posted at TWE (assuming a 10pt tolerance). I assume you were looking at unstrung specs on PK. TWE has the factory unstrung targets for weight & balance at 305 grams / 31,5cm. TWE does not post the unstrung SW. We don't have samples of the 5X at TW-USA, so I cannot spec additional samples to see what the SW averages are. Either way, if you are looking for tight specs, customization is the way to go.

Added: I will ask TWE to spec more samples once they become available. It's possible that the posted SW is an outlier on the heavy side.

I know, just mentioning the experience because it still seemed a bit odd/different for the average TW measured spec (from several frames, assumingly) to come out to a 336 strung SW while all of the options given to me when I requested matching service seemed to be 295 (PKs target SW spec on their own website) or in one case a 297, which have yielded strung swingweights (16L poly) for me at 327 and 329. For the TWE average to be that much higher then that means there might have been some very high SW frames - even above that 336 number - in the batch of those sampled. Anyway, just a note. I might have held off if I knew the SW was that high but then seeing that the actual samples offered me were all in line with PK's specs more so than TW's, I bit. And I'm glad I did. Great great frame (at this more manageable weight).

Sounds good. We often have to "go to press" with only 1 (or 2) samples, and then later have to revise. I will ask TWE to do 10 of the 5X, which will likely bring the average down. If 6 points is a SW dealbreaker to an otherwise perfect frame, I'd definitely contact us directly (and glad you did). If we have a large enough sample-set, we can often find something closer to target.

Cant wait until you all get the 5X in. @JGads knows the Q+5pro rather well and it sounds oddly like the XL version is more like the prior standard length version of the Q+5pro than the new 315 gram version.

The whippiness and free power of the prior Q+5pro is a special thing. The new version is amazing, but plays like a bigger and much punchier frame than the prior one.

@TW Staff I am very interested in the new yellow 2021 Ki Q+ 5X Pro (the extended 27.5 inch length) so I was very disappointed it is not being offered on your website rollout this week. Is it not being offered here? Has it been discontinued? Is it a clerical error to not include it with the other 8 new 2021 models?

Thanks for looking into this.

Rebump this question for @TW Staff ; I’m interested in buying two 4-1/2 frames and they are in stock at your competitors from Houston’s website. I would prefer to continue shopping with you if I can at least get an answer when you will stock them.

Thanks!

Unfortunately, at this time it looks like we aren't expecting to carry it. I've passed along the interest to our buyer for the future.

Thanks,
Tiffani, TW

A shame, mainly because this frame is Mark Boone's destiny. He would love it.
Very quirky decision to choose not to carry one out of the full package of 2021 frames. Very disappointed but I will hold my nose and order from the little twerp in Houston. stringytom $$$ should never flow towards them ever again!

It’s an outstanding frame. A buttery longbody that swings more whippier than most XLs, than the PK 7G too. Your money will not be wasted, wherever it goes.
