New rackets are not better then the old ones. Or are they?

I do not know why but I have tried almost every racket on the market and I have found that the only rackets that I am able to play good with is old ones e.g. PS85, PS6.1 Classic, Prestige Classic, Radical TwinTube, Prince Graphite etc. I am a 18-year-old swede who are about to play the European Championship for Juniors next week and I am very interested in what the pros are playing with. I have found that almost every pro is playing with a discounted racket. Some plays with the new ones but most of them got the new rackets rackets customized and not only with lead tape.

I would like to hear your opinion on this subject. Do you like the new rackets or the old ones? And why do most of the pros play with the old ones? Maybe because they grow up plying with them. Then why do the younger pros play with old rackets too?

Quite simply: Yes, most older racquets tend to be better than most newer racquets. And, yes, most pros grow up using a certain racquet and are so accustomed to them that they don't want to make a change.

i think the older rackets are better because they don't have this BS technology that alter the feel or how a racket plays. and most pros (the younger ones are a bit different) tend to use the rackets they grew up playing w/ or something very similar to that.

HAHA finally!!

i use a cayman tnt 90, and my good friend uses a pro staff.......we talk endlessly on how we can not understand what people are thinking with these new rackets. but hey.....i guess we have the advantage.

n-code? why would you want to dull the shot?
federer wants feel if im not mistaken lol

argument supported by geesechops im sure

Long live no-gimmick graphite rackets!

Good luck in your game, man!
Anirut, I will hold you to that! Next time I'm in Bangkok you're going to have to surrender your Volkl T10ve mid with V-ENGINE, TOUR HANDLE to me! Ha ha! Oky, I'll trade it for my Head TXE Graphite with buggered grommets. Deal? ;)

Elementary my friend: older frame's mfg mentality (not just tennis rackets): "oh baby, we want to impress you, try it you'll like it..." New frame mfg mentality: "bottom-line profitability....how much crap can we inject into this damn mold to still make it somewhat playable..." These newbies will never know the frickin' difference........

Well ... mate ... I'll trade your 10VE with a brand new JK Prostaff. How 'bout that? The wood is mint, with press on, in plastic bag, never strung, comes with cover. It's a rarity these days ...

The POG OS has as much relevancy in todays game as it did back in 1980, if not more today. Eighty-five square inches is dead in todays game.

Ha, no deal. As I promised you before, the TXE is yours for nothing, compliments from me. It'll only cost you a beer next time I'm there.

Deal! I'll have ready a crate of nice cold beer for you. Make sure you plan for an extra day or two ... just to accommodate the hangovers ... :)

Ahh, I can already taste the Singhas on my lips ...

I just don't see the posturing about new and old racquets, though. Each of them have their merits, and because of brand loyalty, ego, etc. there will always be different camps.
