New racquet Radical MP

I just switched to the radical mp

i put a leather grip on it and i put 4 strips about 5 in long of lead tape under the hoop

my serve speed has dramatically increased from my old racquet, as well as my power on my backhand, even though im stringing 8 pounds tighter

my shots also dont sail long but instead have a lot of spin to dip in

while i acknowledge that the new radicals arent even really radicals, they are a great racquet for aggressive players who like 12 oz racquets after customization

head killed the radical line after the youteks, but these new "graphene" radicals are very stable and good racquets

Sure they are Radicals, they are just different Radicals.

A 911 is still a 911 after all these years, but folks like different versions best.

Well, how much does a Youtek Radical have in common with a Flexpoint Radical or an i.Radical?

small differences happened through out the years, but the change from the youtek or ig line to the new graphene radicals was extreme to say the least

the beam is different and the throat is a different shape a long with the bridge in the throat being a lot thinner than the rest of the racquet

It's not as bad as the internet makes out.

The beam is also quite different between the MicroGel and the Youteck/IG; the MG's are much more boxy.

It sounds pretty head heavy, have you had any problems with a sore forearm or elbow?

I played with a 13.5 oz pure drive roddick plus for 3 years and a 13 oz tfight 325 for a year

This is the lightest racquet I've used since I was 13

So it has a good amount of mass but I can maneuver it a little bit better. No arm issues what so ever with it, it feels stiff but in all the right parts

Wat. You mean to suggest that the IG Radical was awful, but the Graphene isn't?

I agree, weird. I played the GRadPro and it was the first racquet to ever give me tennis elbow whereas the IG radical pro and MP were a great combination of comfort, power and control. Hardly ever use it but I still own an IG radical MP which I've been meaning to throw black CAP grommets on.

The whole IG line was amazing, imo. The clear grommets looked a little ugly, but the frames that I hit with (nearly all of them) are just perfect.

X2 on the IG line. This was Head's pinnacle of success and refinement, before the fall. Man, its sad that it happened.
