Septembre 2011 : Tecnifibre is launching a new string ! The "Ruff Code" is a monofilament polyester with some crazy advantages ...
1. Extended durability
2. Superior tension maintenance
3. Exaggerated spin! Have a look of what they say about it ...

More power! More control! More spin! Better durability!

I feel like I've heard this before...

Something tells me the OP is a sucker for average marketing. IE, a company's dream.

Nope, I'm going to stick to my Biphase/ALU Power combo. I just copy and pasted all that from Tecnifibre's site. I just thought some people might be interested in it so I posted it on TT

Does the tennis world need another poly string?

Personally I think string manufacturers should concentrate on making the holy grail of strings, which is a multifilament that doesn't lose tension, plays like natural gut, is very durable and cost like $10 per pack.

I wish LOL! I'm not much of a poly player these days, but Multifilaments are my muse. Unless I'm buying gut I prefer not to spend more then 6-7 bucks a set on string, so cheaper synthetics have become my friend. If they made a softer multi that didn't loose tension at that price I would for sure hunker down and buy a reel!

The entire planet’s consumerist culture thrives on quantity over quality. So it’s not going to happen. I wish the same would be true for tennis racquets. A manufacturer could easily hit all the bases with 4-5 frames in their entire line up. There is no need for Wilson and Babolat to have 50 different racquets. It does nothing to improve people’s games and only serves to dilute quality.

I am going to order my set, since I liked ALU Rough, I will see.

I also have liked the Yonex Poly Tour Pro as well, and I was very surprised with it, sure it is in my top 5 now best poly.

Mantis Comfort comes pretty close to this on all three counts, in my opinion.

1. Mantis Comfort does not lose tension because it breaks so quickly in a full job. It lasts twice as long or more as a cross string though.

2. Mantis Comfort is low powered unlike high powered gut.

3. See post #1 about durability.

4. In reel form, Mantis Comfort is just over $5/string job. If you string your own, this is a good one to try out.

i am also watching this string as i'm in the process of testing quite a lot of shaped/structured strings and of course would be interested to obtain a sample of it.
by the way, a first testreport in 1.25mm gauge has been filed on the stringforum and it seems to be a soft string. not a very detailed description, but maybe some others will file their reports sometime soon too.

Well I finally got a chance to try these strings today.
I strung them up last night in a hybrid. Ruff in the Mains, OGSM in the Crosses.
When I strung them last night, the strings themselves felt like it had a plastic/wax type coating.
Ofcourse it has that "gear-shape" texture as advertised, but it felt like typical barbs. The texture actually reminded me of Luxilon Big Banger Alu Power Rough.
No problems stringing this string.

Anyway, I hit with these strings for about 5 hours.
Honestly the setup felt slightly stiff. I probably strung it a lb or 2 too high. (but I always string my mains at this particular tension, and it always works fine for me)
But as I kept hitting, it got less stiff.
Long story short, I wasn't too impressed with these strings.
Didn't feel like there was more spin than normal.
Decent power. Volleys were ok. Serves were ok.
Playability was slightly under par.
Nothing special about these strings in my opinion.
Sorry.

Has anyone tried these strings in a full bed setup? I am just curious as to how these strings stack up to Solinco Tour Bite, RPM, and Black Code in terms of feel and whether or not it is arm friendly.

I see the one review on here wasn't exactly one of ringing praise. :) Anyone else hit with Ruff Code yet? Thoughts please!

Really good string in fact but nothing ground breaking. Has above average power for a poly, good tension maintenance and good spin potential. Price point is just too high to get really noticed. If it were cheaper I am sure it would get more love.

Hear! Hear!
This is the case with a lot of good strings. Depends on the market, though.
For example, some strings that are quite expensive here in the US are cheap in Australia and vice versa.

I have to say this is the best poly I've come across after a lengthy search. I've used pro hurricane, pro hurricane tour, spiky shark, super smash spiky, pro poly plasma, poly speed spin, black code, cyclone, cyber max rotation, beast, alu rough, big hitter blue, big hitter black 7, and even ventured to try pro's pro strategum (biggest disappointment unfortunately).

My criteria for a full bed poly string was durability, spin, control, power in that order and ruff code is the only string that delivered all those things in spades in my aero pro drive. Using the thickest gauge I truly felt I got the "exaggerated spin" and power without sacrificing control I've been looking for. It's also remarkably comfortable for a poly and feels nothing like alu power, yet I feel like it has similar performance. There was some concern with the original price but it's come down (probably as it's still mostly unknown), and can be found even cheaper if you're looking. While it's not a popular string yet, I hope it will catch on so it will be here for a long time. I don't see myself changing anytime soon.
