New updated board needs some tweaking

I noticed that the TT board was updated with a new style today. A couple of things need to be added though.

1. Date of Creation column for threads on the main forum page.

2. A forum/thread location tree on the bottom of each page as there is on the top of each page.

BTW, for some reason, I am now unable to use any of the editing buttons/icons on the top menu (and also now the smilies on the right) when I use the reply box. My browser is Netscape 7.2.

I'll likely add more missing things as I surf more and if I notice any.

Thanks

Thanks for the head's up. We are working on restoring the features that got lost in the update.

Yes, please keep looking for missing items. Date of creation will take some time before it makes its way back to the forum. I will add #2 back in asap. I'll look into editing features. They all seem to work for me on firefox & safari mac. Yes, smilies on the right side now.

thanks, jon

Why does there always seem to be a problem of some sort with the 'Date of Creation'?

We couldn't set it as a default in out 'User CP' before - and now it "will take some time before it makes its way back to the forum".

Why is 'Date of Creation' the 'black sheep' of this board?

I noticed an XML feed as well. Will it update daily or by subscribed thread?
I haven't used the xml feed yet, it is activated so feel free to test it out.

Did you check the "remember me" box next to the login box? The timeout cookie is the same as the previous version.

The creation date feature is an added hack I threw in, its not a "stock" vbulletin feature and is not supported by vbulletin. When I inquired to vbulletin about some performance issues we were having they pointed fingers at this creation date feature, so I am leaving it out for now to see if performance increases.

Thanks, jon

Thanks for the explanation. Strange that it's not offered as a 'stock' feature - it's quite handy and useful.

Just curious BP, I had the same problem. Turns out I didn't have "full WYSIWYG" editing enabled. Do you? I'm curious if its just a Netscape problem.

Yes, I do have full WYSIWYG enabled, but it's still not working for me. I also get a lot of HTML tags in the body of the text whenever I quote someone's post. Also, the quick edit box that pops up when you click on "Edit" does not work with Netscape, and neither do any of the Smilies (which did before). BTW, which version of Netscape are you using?

Hi Jon, Just a reminder that the thread tree still had not been added back to the bottom of each page. Thanks.

Can we get a proper browser icon for talk tennis?
you mean the favicon that appears next to the url
favicon.ico
? Yes, the message board is due for its own icon.

Has any progress been made allowing access to the old forum board posts?
Sorry, not as of yet. From what I was told the data does still exist. I will look into this again tomorrow.

Thanks for the reminder. I had planned to do this today but I don't think I spent more than 20 minutes at my desk today. We are moving some things around and I got roped into the move. I will do it tomorrow for sure.

Thanks Jon!!

BTW, I can now use the buttons in the top menu and the smilies also (in the reply box) with my Netscape browser. :D Did you fix something? If so, thanks!! :D

great! I didn't do anything on this end that would affect these features.

I did add the breadcrumbs (thread tree) at the bottom of both forum display and thread display pages. I guess officially it is tomorrow now ;)

Hmmm....strange, as I didn't do anything on my end, either. But it works now, so what the heck?

Thanks!! That was quick. That's one feature I really missed. It makes surfing so much more convenient as you don't need to scroll all the way back up to the top of the page to go somewhere else. :D

It's too bad about the "Date of Creation" feature, though. It was always nice to know how old a thread is before venturing into it. Oh, well. :(
