New User Moderator on Talk Tennis

As Talk Tennis continues to grow, it is important that we grow with it. We felt the need to add another user moderator and asked user SFrazeur if there was any interest in participating. SFrazeur agreed to join the user mod team and has moderator status as of today.

Chris, TW.

Thank you TW for the opportunity.

Thanks to everyone who expressed support. It's good to see many familiar faces-err, well you get the idea.

That's fantastic news - I always thought SF was a great guy and would make a fabulous moderator. The moment I started reading his posts on this forum I said to myself - now he is someone, he is something, he is going places, he should be a mod.

Thanks to SF for letting TTW talk him into doing this and congratulations to the rest of us for having him as a mod. These forums became a better place as of today.

So I guess begging does indeed work around here. ;) LOL

Congrats, SFrazeur! I guess you got what you wanted, but I hope you know what you're getting yourself into. ;)

You know what they say - "Be careful of what you wish for." ;)

Best of luck with your new role! :D

What's the big deal about being a moderator? Is it really that coveted? Do you get paid for it or something?
In a manner of speaking.... We get showered with love, honor and respect. Users applaud our every move. We are esteemed by all the TT users to such a degree it actually makes us a bit uncomfortable. (But it's nice.)

Right, DD?

- KK

Could you moderators take us through a typical day/week on the job? What do you do, how do you it, what is your mandate, do you talk on the phone to each other, and all that. What are bests parts of the job and the worst? Inquiring minds want to know the answers to these questions and many more.

I agree, tell us by starting with the exact process of logging into your account, such as what keys do you press for the text boxes that say "User Name" and "Password"

DD or SF - I'll let one of you take this one. (Remember our Annual Trip, too....)

It's what you'd expect, we get e-mail alerts for reported posts, we check them. If there is a clear violation of the rules, we move the post to a "problem post" thread or we delete them. That's basically it. When we feel really frisky, we might make a sticky here or there. Cleaning up a trainwreck thread is the worst... You have to review the entire thread, and then try not to remove any good content/relevant info (which is hard to do, since we aren't supposed to edit). Then, you double review the thread to see if you're being consistent/over-deleting [It's not hard when 80% of the {reported or problem} posts are jokes, insults, retorts, flaming].

Edit: I will shoot KK, Chris, Spencer etc a rare e-mail at times, but we have a sub-forum where we can discuss anything in the "open" privately. I feel that we all have a certain amount of respect for each other, and trust one anothers' decisions. We are also open to critiques/suggestions... KK does a good job of this. We don't talk to each other over the phone (I think that would be kind of awkward). I've never met any of the other mods/admins in real life, but if it comes to that some day, i'll buy 'em a round of drinks... (i imagine when that time comes i'll be able to ;P)

It's a pretty grueling task, sometimes i wake up in a cold sweat dreaming about it.

;)

Interesting look at some of the inner workings around here. Thanks.

I feel so ignorant. I never read about this SFrazeur guy. I know one Frazier Joe Frazier who was involved in a "Thrilla in Manila" against Muhammad Ali. Anyway, belated congratulations to you Mr. SFrazeur. I only hope you are not so ignorant about me!

Are you paid to say this ... ?

Thanks for the congratulations . If you were to not have heard of a Frazeur/Frazier regardless of spelling, then it should differently be me. I am not very much at the moment.

Do you think he is up to it ... ?

Condi
I have been very much up to it since was instated.

Condi

Obviously not, I would have had to pay him by the word, and I am too cheap to have paid for as many words as he posted.

The "Moderators" are User-Moderators asked by TW Staff to help moderate.
There are three of us, Kaptain Karl (KK), DireDesire (DD), and myself SFrazeur (SF). I messed up the alliteration thing with my user name.
Well, it says "moderator" under their name,
Except for KK, for whatever reason his title was not changed to Moderator.

It's ok SF, your avatar makes up for the alliteration.

KK is still a hall of famer, we've been demoted :(
