I’ve seen the flyer they sent out and honestly they don’t care what 30+ years old wants...
they are marketing to the young kids and net generations... they realized long ago that as consumers we are no longer the major target. Neon bright colors, flashy robot type design, cool PJ and catchy name is what sells... You think they care about giving us another 95 square inch head or pro stock like racquets??? They have proven time and time again that kids at the end of the day will want something and tell their parents and boom that’s a sale... I see every day at USTA tournaments... Reps giving out partnership or sponsorship to like 8 - 9 years old! Everyone is decked out in mostly Babolat or Wilson at least here in the D.C. area... I see the same kids each season with the updated model! As they get a hugely reduced price or some of lucky get 2-3 racquet free if their highly rated... Like honestly if you don’t have the fresh gear I noticed they sit by themselves... freaking “Mean Girls” but tennis format “you can’t sit here”. No one wants to be that kid...
Kudos to the parents providing for their child and being their for the tournaments, but you can tell companies knows these mothers/fathers with the 80k+ SUV/Sports Car can afford 200$ plus a racquet for their kid(s).
As you see Nike and Adidas and their paint scheme and kits... once in a while they throw out a bone for us oldies (I’m 32) to give us some hope of quality, but then they come out the the MXG MSG whatever the crap Head came out with or Wilson with the reverse PJ... That is like Old school 50 Cent when he makes one song and pops a remix (at least that we had new lyrics) This is how capitalize on one product by switching designs!!!
