New Wilson PS85 quality control

Has anyone had any experiences with buying multiple of the current incarnation of the PS85 and noticed the usual terrible quality control issues Wilson is known for? - obvious variations in weight, balance, feel etc?

Was considering stocking up but would like to know anyone else's experiences in this regard.

thats why its one of the reasons why st vincents still demand such a high cost...the quality control was top notch,,,with the racquets now...i think weight variation should be the least of the concern..with variations in the amount of material and type of material in different racquets and in different places on the racquet (like side to side balance) versus length wise balance... the variability in any racquet is increased
If I add 3 grams of lead at the 3 position only,. I can definitely tell that the side to side balance is off

One wonders if manufacturers are that precise (down to 2-3 grams)when it comes to distribution of material throughout the racquet

Funny how things morph into legend....

Wilson was upfront with the variability when it came to the manufacture of Chicago and SV frames.

The stickers say: weight/oz. 11.6-12.3, balance 1.0-1.5 in. headlight. It says so right on the frames.

....almost a +/- 10 gram and a +/- 4 point weight and balance window.

c'mon now.

Good call VGP... I should have framed it more in terms of things you can't even out later with customising - like flex or inherent deadness (frames do vary in this - quite a lot sometimes). These attributes seem to have been lacking in consistency in Wilson frames for years.

This is why Sampras liked the St. Vincent frames.

This is why I got all my rackets matched straight from TW. Though they cannot match for things like flex etc, I find that if they all the rackets are coming from the same batch with the weight and balance correct this tends to not be a problem.
