Streisand Effect
Streisand Effect
The Streisand effect is when some person or group wants to hide, remove, censor information, but, in
trying to keep that information secret, the unintended consequence is that the information spreads faster, becomes viral.
In 2003 Barbara Streisand sued to stop the showing of aerial photographs of her Malibu residence.
That attempt just roused the public interest, putting her home in an even greater spotlight.
Lately, the British Royal's attempt to turn the public's attention away from Princess Kate seems to
have backfired when their photos turned out to be Photoshopped and stirred a media frenzy.
Now, former President Trump is suing ABC News for slander for stating that he was convicted of rape.
His argument that he was only convicted of "sexual abuse" could result in a Streisand Effect- we'll see.
