New year = New racquet - Looking for a TF40 replacement

Happy New Year for everyone!

Now let's go to the important things, racquets. So, I've been playing with the TF 40 305 since it was released and yes, it's a wonderful racquet, but lately I started to feel it a bit cumbersome, especially in shots where you need the head of the racquet moving quickly. Therefore, sometimes I'm not being able to control the power coming frome its high swingweight, or to get the maximum acceleration at serve, or I'm being late on some shots, even though I'm using it with leather grip, it doesn't feel headlight enough.

So, I thought about some racquets that can, possibly, be a good choice:

-Yonex VCore Pro 97 310
-Yonex VCore 95
-Babolat Pure Aero VS
-Head Radical MP

Which of this racquets (or another one) do you think will provide me the best combination of control+spin+maneuverability? I can generate enough power, but maybe a little plus isn't that bad, as long as it's controllable of course.

Just get the Blade V8 and be done with it..
this may be the actual answer.

I'm playing the TF40 305 now and none of those frames on your list would interest me except for possibly the VC95. But I don't see myself going down in inches for my everyday gamer sticks.

The Blade is one I would look to use if I wanted to make things little easier to bring around which seems to be what your gripe is.

And it's actually one of the cheapest frames available now since everything else has been updated with $250+ pricing.

Plus you have the 16m or 18 mains options.

Look into this one.

You should try the 360+ radical mp with a leather grip. It is spin friendly, very maneuverable, stability is really good for its weight and because of the dense string pattern in the middle, it offers great control.

Tf40 also has pretty small head. It says 98 but I think is closer to 96. One of reasons why I also have social? pressure to switch from tf40? :-D

If you want to stay with a 18x20 string pattern, try the Vcore Pro 97D. More head light than your TF40 305 and it has a good combo of control and power. Use thinner gauge strings for more spin and to keep the swingweight lower.

Out of interest, how many TF40s do you have? Swing weight should only be in the mid 320s so wondering if you've got an out of spec one.

I have 3 TF40s and don't find them cumbersome at all. Just wondering as I've seen quite a few QC issues on this board (although my 3 are all bang on spec wise)

Tecnifibre are great rackets if you get one with good specs... but the likelihood of that is slim.
It's somewhat sad they don't focus on mfg..If they did...imo they will sell more..
Buying a TF is a gamble...

Or you can use the match service.

Didn't think about the new Blade, it looks promising though. My only concern is the balance, I like it more towards to 6-7 pts HL, and if I put a leather grip on it, how many points would be the SW increased by?

Wait for the specs on TF40 16x19

Not sure if that's possible. Unfortunately, none of the new releases of Tecnifibre are arriving at my country. Actually, the last one was the TF 40, and only a small quantity.

Pure drive vs

Thank you but I don't think so. Looks like it's too powerful and has a harsh feel for my taste.

Yeah, I noticed the same, definitely looks smaller than other 98 sq inch racquets!

I'm tempted to try this racquet too, but I think it will be too demanding for me. Especially because I only play on clay and I won't have any help from it.

Of course... with any racket purchase from TW you can spend the $ on the matching service..
It all depends on what you want to spend and how much budget you have in your tennis allocation..

I have two of them, but I mainly play with one. I think it's highly probable that it's off spec, because I felt it more sluggish than I would like since the beginning. My coach (who's a former pro) agree with me on the off balance and SW of the racquet and therefore it's power.
Just as a curiosity, even the specs printed on thie inside of the hoop are different between them. One of the racquet is missing a spec. I will share a couple of pics later if I can.

I made exactly this switch, TF40 305 -> Blade 18x20 v8, for reasons similar to OPs. I’ve had the Blade for about 6 weeks (~20 sets and some ball-machine hours besides), you could argue I’m still honeymooning with it but I’m pretty happy with my decision.

Typically grip and trap door weight only changes the balance point and not the swingweight.

I just punched the numbers into the TWU Customization Worksheet and adding 15 grams at the 3½" point (=> equivalent to swapping for a leather grip) changes the SW not at all.

From the ones you listed, i think the Vcore Pro is the one that fits better within your desired control+spin+maneuverability combination.

I found the radical MP to be not that spin friendly for a 16 main.

I would replace the radical MP option for the Extreme Tour as a head option.
