i dont think the paint is half bad. cant tell much is new with it though other than the drilling pattern gimmick.

Ok I thought it was planned late 2017
I'm considering changing my sticks in september and may well consider that new Ezone 100 or the new Pure drive.
Looking forward to hear more about these sticks.

98 is 305gr instead 310gr and balance 315 instead 310. Slighly lighter and slightly balance moved to head

Micro Offset Layout! I don't understand what the picture is supposedly showing. But hey, the promise of more comfort! Seems to be an incremental change to the DR. They now recommend Rexis as a string to use!

Tough crowd. I quite like the paint job.

After loving the AI, but disliking the DR, I'll certainly be interested in a test drive.
With any new release of any thing (shoes, clothes, racquets), you're only hearing from the vocal minority (positive and negative) - the majority just say "Meh" and don't comment. I'm more concerned with performance.

Has anyone picked up a lettering scheme to these racquets? Xi, Ai, Dr... this one just seems to be called 'the new EZONE'

Yeah, I think they're trying to simplify matters...but over time, it may just make it that much more difficult to know which iteration is which, other than the paintjob.

Though I guess it works for Babolat and Wilson.

I don't see any specs listed for flex. I wouldn't be surprised if it was stiffer than the DR98 before it. One complaint about the DR98 was being low powered. Interesting how a new racquet line comes out and it gets progressively stiffer until it's no longer the same racket anymore.

I think the Ai98 was fine and users just got the wrong grip size because very flexible rackets and pencil grips don't mix well unless you can consistently hit the sweet spot. When more time passes, we're all going to look back at the Ai98 and see it as the Yonex version of the PT57A.

FWIW, I demoed the EZAi98, but bought the EZXi98. That might be the one that becomes the Yonex PT. I mean, it works for Nick K (when he's not smashing them to bits in a tantrum) .

The news section on the yonex site explains all the big changes, including the biggest ever sweet spot seen on an ezone with extended corners etc. Sounds like a new squarer head shape.

Looks to have a new technology: HYPER-MG but the website doesn't elaborate on what that is. Guessing some magnesium infusion of some sort?
if really magnesium,,,it would make the racket more powerful.... I remember Old prince tungsten rackets with magnesium in it,,,they were very powerful.

It's a stiffer metal that bends better (or something like that). Supposedly it stiffens just the top to prevent torsional flex for more power and repulsion or whatever. Find the press release on their site. I'm getting one, undemoed - like a good Yonex Team member would.

I'm gonna posit that there's as much magnesium in there as Graphene in HEAD racquets, or titanium as all the MFRs claimed they used 12-15 years ago...which is to say, zilch.

They offer different string pattern for Ezone Lite (270gr) at 16x18 ! Its a bummer, since Ezone DR Lite is a very good light racquet with nice blend of control, power, maneuverability, and comfort.

Love the green, close pj to the volkl v-sense 7... This could jut tempt me back to yonex ai98 > ps 97s > ezone.....

Is it just called ezone 98? no two letter abbreviation this time?

Looks like another same racket with slightly different feeling.
I am not sure it will be good thing or not since Yonex often makes completely different rackets from previous model.
AI/DR line saved Yonex in my opinion and probably not a bad idea to keep same rackets for a while.
Not a good PJ. Should make new one with similar to AI100 limited edition Japanese Red PJ.

Bought a blue DR 98+ a couple weeks ago and loving the look.
Hopefully they come out with the extended 27.5 length, but it is missing from the YonexUSA site so hope is low. Maybe a few months from now?
Wish this was in blue too, but I wouldn't mind a deep purple or deep green.

I like the lighter spec compared to DR98 - more room for customizing...hopefully they change NOTHING else.
