New Yonex Vcore? 2026?

New mold?
I'll give credit to Yonex in that they haven't been afraid to change the mold on successful frames. I wouldn't be surprised if they have changed the mold. It will be interesting to see if it receives the Minolon treatment of the Ezone.

Why people want the vcore to be something not a vcore... It's spin oriented line, why the tighter string pattern, use ezone if tighter pattern is what you want. Keep the tear drop shape, open pattern, more string movement but not with that silicone oil stuff that can't last over 3 months. Really should change the throat or whole frame shape to be more aerodynamic, those air fin stuff I don't feel it works at all. I do think Vcore should have an oversize version, which Japan has an 102 vcore, but they had to ruin it by making it 26.75" length

Yeah I love it - „i want a Pure Aero 100 just Babolat please make it 19mm, 55RA and tight string pattern and 27.5in” :D Well then just go buy something else..

its fine that Vcore and Ezone (and Percept) are so distinct right now, but I guess folks need more options in-between. Yonex needs their version of PA98 at least.

Ah going back to the '21 head shape would be brilliant. Definitely not a fan of the teardrop thing shifts the sweetspot too far away imo
I’m apparently in the minority as a big fan of the current model’s head shape and sweet spot location; by encouraging the user to make contact higher up on the string bed it maximises available leverage & has enhanced stability in comparison with the preceding model, which felt much more ‘fluttery’/unstable & less powerful on balls hit in the same area, despite being harsher/stiffer overall and slightly less spin friendly.

After extensive play testing of the last two iterations I bought three of the 2023+ version specifically for the reasons above; these are my current match racquets - although I hit up with my Prince’s regularly.

Most of these peopele are not hopeless cases and just want a move in SV direction, which isn't a too wild shout imo.

You are not alone, I love the head shape and really don't want it to go away, even I don't play with it anymore but my new frame has exactly the teardrop head shape and that's what I need.

I like the new shape too.

- Revert to the 2021 hoop shape (get rid of the goofy excessive tear-drop that opens the upper pattern too much and lopsides the 12-to-6 symmetrical consistency too much).
- Retain the 2023 beam widths.
- Move to 16x20 in all models, or at least the 98.
- Toss VDM in the dumpster where it belongs, and revert to proper solid-state-only layup additives, to restore feel.
- Keep the RA in the mid-60's where it should be, on all models.
- Put a proper colorway on it, instead of the Playmobil mess that is the '25 EZone.
- Finish it properly with gloss, ala the 2015 SV's and prior.

Ready Yoneyama & Sons? Execute!
A thoroughly respectable list.

But you might consider the following as well:

-There's something to the tear-drop shape, especially for the modern 2HBH. That's not to say there isn't room for improvement, because I agree that it is a bit exaggerated in its current shape.
-The beam shape could be altered a little bit. I think it's overdone in certain aspects and making it a bit boxier and less aero-profiled wouldn't hurt the speed or spin performance.
-The 100 needs to stay a 16x19. I think there's a reasonable argument for a 16x20 in the 98, but I also think there are plenty of control in other 98 16x19 frames (BP, TF40, etc) to justify leaving it alone.
-No VDM. No Servo Filter. No other nonsense. Give us all the feel back.
-I like Red 2023 PJ, but the VCore needs something epic like the VCP Synthwave.
-Please update the grip shape. All Yonex grips are too rounded. I need something to get some more bevel feel and reference. And put some flare on the butt too!

I cannot agree with you more on the gloss. Gloss PJs are just epic.

Very true...

The thing is that you don't need a heavy racket anymore to get stability. Light (300gr) frames are now perfectly stable even against big hitters... vcore, ezone, tfight 300, pure aero or drive... why would you need to get those with 20 more grams today?!

(Apart from being old and used to the flat game)

@ryushen21 - Very nice commentary. And yes, I think for the modern 2HBH, tear-dropping can be relevant. I just think they could optimize the shape slightly more. But hey, at least they're willing to bring a higher level of mold variation to market, more often than most of the others. As for the other stuff, sounds like we're aligned, and yes, the 100 should probably retain the 16x19, and provided they map the 98 pattern smartly enough, in conjunction with an optimized hoop shape, it, too, could retain a 16x19, though maybe the 98 Tour could adopt a 16x20...? In any event, the silo is ripe for some improved string bed consistency and rawness of feel. Hopefully Yonex at least makes some headway on those fronts.

Yep. A lot of people to need to stop pushing the heavy racquet hype. I understand a lot of frames can give extra mass for stability while retaining a lower swingweight, but that's not exactly persuasive for me. Most of my frames now are 305g unstrung and I'm looking for a strung weight around 330g with a 330SW.

I'm trying to push closer to that realm myself, save for a bit higher static and slightly lower SW, which feels better on my 1HBH, and crushing ability on flat 1st serves. Example: current eval of the M98P sitting at mid-upper 330's g static, mid-320's SW strung, and liking it quite a bit.

I thought I remembered you having a 1HBH. The 16x20 on the 98 makes sense now. That also make sense spec-wise to have that mass available but get it moving quicker for the 1HBH.

You would likely be around that spec with the VCORE Tour, minus the unstrung weight of course. I have two of the current VCORE Tour, both 334-335g static weight with OG and dampener, SW of 328.

Precepts I play with are 308g unstrung, intentionally picked couple grams under 310g.
I like how they feel, 307-310g seems to be the sweat spot for me.
I used to play with Vcore 95, 310g. Great feel, it was true weapon, didn’t feel like 310 at all, it was lighter, very maneuverable.

Which VCore 95 did you play with? I’ve reverted to the 2018 version (pre VDM) and it feels beautiful, super manoeuvrable and surprisingly stable with some tape at 3 and 9. All of that packaged in a 98 would be the dream.

I used lates one, 2021, found it very playable even in stock.
I agree, if they make this package in 98 - that’s it, just take my money Yonex.

Could you just imagine if Yonex got their heads screws on properly and released a VC98 with the hoop proportions of the '21, but with the thickness of the '23, the 16x20 pattern from the SV for extra precision, minus any VDM, Servo Filter or any other muting garbage, for actual feel again? That would be absolute fire.

Now you are speaking my language. That would be a beautiful stick.

It would literally be the greatest racquet on the market, lol. Without question. Like the DR98 of the Vcore line.

I mean arguably they are for Fonseca and others haha

I would have to say overall, the swing physics of the 2021 (Gen 6), combined with the direct/unfiltered feel, 16x20 and WAY better black/red+gloss paint job of the 2015 SV (Gen 4).

And apparently at least Fonseca would agree, as he's using a 2021 98 mold with the 16x20 drill pattern from the SV98, for better facial consistency and precision. A total no-brainer IMHO.
I played with both the v5 & v6. The v6 from 2021 suited my game really well and was very stable.

When the v7 came out I got wrapped up in all the hype/reviews and immediately switched to it (errantly selling my '21s). While it was a tad more maneuverable, providing better angles, off-center hits were not as stable and I just didn't like the feel as much. I tried adding a little weight to improve the feel/stability but then it lost that slight edge in maneuverability that it had over it's predecessor.

The '21 and '23 are like brothers...similar but distinguishably different with slight pros/cons that some players will gravitate toward...leading them to the one that best suits their game.

This rash "upgrade" sent me on the continued racket journey to the Percept 97 (unforgiving on D and leaves balls short); Ezone 98 (best I ever played...but arm/elbow pain); and now to Gravity Tour 98. If the paintjob of the '26 Vcore is improved I may have to try it.

Indeed, almost. As best as we can tell, his is the '21 mold with the SV pattern. Layup is anyone's guess, though.

Moral of the story? Be very slow to flip anything you've main'd and gelled with that well.

What strings did you play in the Percept? I did not like it at all with poly. Gut/Poly was a different story though...

I still play with Percept 97 as my go to racquet. Mixing it with Blade 98, but my arm is noticeably more sore after hitting with Blade for couple weeks than Percept.
I find Percept 97 incredibly versatile, can control shots really well. But what works for some - doesn’t for others, we’re all different players.
