New Yonex Vcore? 2026?

How are people who tried the 98 feeling after all this time? I've been with it for a few weeks and it's just not clicking. Feels very slow through the air.

I've been looking for a replacement for the pure aero 98 23, I love that racquet but it really aggravates my wrist. I really wanted it to be the vcore 98 but I'm pretty sure I'm moving on.

Anyone experience anything similar?

Haven’t hit the new VC98 but I use the VC98 Tour v7 and used to use the PA98 ‘23. New VC’s play “long”, the head shape moves a little slower at normal specs than most std length rackets and the sweetspot is higher up than normal. You gotta want to adjust your game, contact pt, etc to it but it’s rewarding when you do.

Try the Nordicdots model 98S—it’s more control-oriented than the PA98 but it’s way more comfortable despite being stiffer on paper, and it has about 80% of the PA’s explosiveness. I’ve been using one recently and it kinda reminds me of the Aero 98—the maneuverability to stability ratio is high, and it’s raw and crisp so you feel it when you hit a good ball.

What string and grip are you playing it with? These are important variables to get right for the manouverability in my experience - with the right choices in these areas (thin syntec team replacement grip and 1.25mm string) you can find the manouverability
 
Good job with quality control from Yonex. I just got done matching my pair of VCore 95 V8, so easy this time. Final set up with
17 gauge string and overgrip.

To me, they feel faster through the air, more direct in feel, but somehow, very soft at contact…and a lot more powerful.
More power than the Boom Pro, Gravity Tour 98…
I am having to adjust to it on my forehand, but on the backhand, both slice and drive it’s a beast. The serve is amazing with it and volleys are solid and it’s fast
to get moving up there, not as solid as something like a Pro Staff, but I’d say it’s better than the Boom Pro and on par with the Gravity Tour 98, although different feeling.

I would say the 2023 VCore feels similar to the new Boom Pro and this new VCore doesn’t feel as similar to the Boom Pro.

I gave my two cents on this earlier in this thread (see below quote) and I still firmly stand by what I initially said. Just a couple of things to add to this after 6-7 months of playing with it:
1. The new 95 is more string sensitive than the prior '23 version and it’s taken me 6-7 months to find a string that I feel confident/happy with (Solinco Confidential Soft). I strongly believe that the overwhelming VDM feel in the ‘23 made it so that most strings felt very similar so you could use anything in that racket. However, now that feeling has gone, you can definitely feel each strings specific nuance.
2. I've also found that the racket plays better without a tension differential between the mains and crosses, and sticking with the same tension throughout made the string bed response more consistent and better for flatter put away shots - YMMV.
3. I've improved the manoeuvrability of the racket by adding a leather grip, but I've had to play around with lead tape in the head to make swing path come through to the contact point as I wanted (just with a leather grip it was coming round too fast, and I was framing shots). This process took a while and I almost gave up with the 95 in that time but I did get it sorted in the end! As a result I think the '26 95 is more sensitive to lead placement - this could be a positive or negative depending on your take!

That’s interesting. I am finding the tension difficult to zero in on for this version compared to the ‘23.
I might give that matching tension a try on mine.

I can't believe it's not getting a lot more hype, for me once you dial in the sting and grip it's by far the best racket I've ever tried, insane power and stability for a stock 305g 98 sq in and not at the cost of rewarding hitting feel. Complete masterpiece and the new benchmark for the power/spin 98 category, now that I am getting used to it I don't have any interest in playing with anything else.

Try the PA 98 2026 or the new Vcore 95. I prefer the new Vcore 95 over the 98.

Also give the Diadem Axis a good as well. Much more comfortable than the Babolat.
 
Ye give it a go! Over the past 8 years I’ve only ever used tension differentials (2 lb for poly and 4lb for gut/poly) and this was the first time I gave it ago and it worked wonders for a more natural launch angle

I assume you're on a full bed of Solinco Confidential Soft? What tension are you stringing it at on your vcore 95?

Ye, I'm stringing the 1.25 gauge at 48 lbs throughout. Seems to be a happy medium of taming the increased power of the new 95 but still having just enough juice in defence to pop high balls back
 
Played with my vcore 95 in a match and lost the first game and then switched back to my ezone to finish the 8 game pro set and won 8-3.

The feel of the 95 is fantastic and feel that pop but the power is low. Each swing has to be a full swing to get the full potential of this racket. Will adding lead tape at 12 help?

It will definitely increase the swing weight and it all depends on how much you add, and you’ll most likely need to counterbalance with some weight in the handle if adding at 12.

I use the VCore 95 v7 and have added 1g between 11&1, my swing weight is at 329sw, strung with Head Lynx Tour champagne 1.25mm. I didn’t need to tail weight it and just have an overgrip over the base grip.

The VCore 95 demands full cuts at the ball and is known to be quite low powered. I would suggest playing around with strings and a lower tension to get a bump in power before messing with lead tape.

I usually string at 51/50(m/c), and after about three weeks circa 10-12 hours of play, I’m at 48/47lbs, and feel the bump in power as the tension drops, but still able to control the ball, and re-string every 4 weeks or so.

I prefer that setting, to control the launch angle, have a crisp and firm feel, lots of spin, above average tension holding.
if you dont mind pocketing, you can also try Hawk Touch as cross, will improve comfort a bit
Also Lynx Tour is a great option in that frame and thus, a Lynx Tour/Hawk Touch hybrid could be a winning combo in that frame. Comes down to personal preferences

Shoutout for Solinco Confidential Soft! Loved it but felt it was a bit too powerful. Crossed it with Solinco Mach-10 and it played better. Going to experiment with a few other crosses like PTP, PTF, Tru Pro Ghostwire, Razor Code to find a setup that offers a bit more control.

What gauge are you using? I can’t say I noticed huge difference in power between Conf Soft and Mach-10 both in the 1.25 gauge - for me maybe Mach-10 was slightly more powerful.

Confidential Soft 1.20, Mach-10 1.25. I did not like full bed of Mach-10 which I tried on the 23 VC95.

Well knowing Yonex it is going to be something very different. Ezone had additional blue edition, gold, white Osaka special version, dark dragon one, black one and now espresso. Doesn’t sound predictable.
I still can’t get over not buying white one
 
Even though I have it listed for sale, I do recommend the vcore 100D for those looking for a blend of power and control.
I enjoy the racket more with a 1.25 poly vs using the 1.20 at first.
I just feel better with my ultra 98 tour at the moment.

Had the same experience. VERY slow through the air. Ended up modding a ezone 100 L and generally enjoying it alot

Demoed the 100D, and agree that it’s very slow through the air, therefore no good for my 1HBH. I let my hitting partner try it, and the effect on the ball is crazy, almost like a ball machine delivering crazy topspin. It was strung with Toroline O Toro Tour 1.23mm mint, other than that, disappointed that it was not going to work for my game :-(

Gotcha. I didn’t find it slow at all. Then again I’m used to rackets like a 98 tour with heavy swing weight lol so it’s whip machine for me
 
I bought a 2026 VC98 a couple months ago to compare against my two VC100Ds, which I've had since the 100D was released. At my 3.0-ish level I've been looking for more pop on my groundstrokes to keep up with my better tennis buddies. TW staff reviewers said the VC98 was "bordering on too much power" and gave it a power rating of 8.8, whereas the 100D had "good power" and a power rating of 8.4. So I figured I would get a 98 and see whether too much was enough for me.

Much to my surprise, after weeks of back-and-forth testing I'm finding the 98 significantly lower-powered than the 100D. My average groundstrokes as measured by SwingVision are consistently 10% faster with a 100D vs. the 98 with the same strings and tension. I've belatedly discovered TW's Power Potential and Racquet Performance Analysis Tools, and it's a relief to see those tools indicating that it may not just be user error. According to the Racquet Performance Analysis Tool, the 8th gen Vcore lineup goes like this in descending order of power:

100+ > 98 Tour > 100D > 100 > 98 > 95 >100L

Long story short, I'm selling off the 98 as too low-powered for me and will instead try different strings and tensions in my 100Ds (and of course work on my technique) to increase power. I'm not going to add weight, as a 100D is just about as much swingweight as I can handle over the course of a match.

I tried PTP/PTR and PTR/PTP. The PTP is too muted and I got no feel from the racquet. Serves were off and got no feedback on strokes.

At a baseline, I think the racquet does well with lively strings. PTR full bed works better but the best feel I got was with Solinco Confidential Soft. I'm going to try PTF full bed next.

I understand the scores as a score for this class of racquets. So the 98 is very powerful for a 98, and the 100D is probably average for a 100.
The conundrum of the 100 for me always was the fact that I would need to use really thick strings with it for launch angle reasons but it would make the swingweight too high. Maybe 100D could solve the problem, but for now I am powering through the 98, it makes you work for good shots, but is also very rewarding for sure.
