The PJ for the SV98 was my favorite in terms of the glossy finish. The Tour F was a great one too! I honestly like the Cool Black PJ from JPN, very nice touch with the silver at the top. Just for some fun info, my 285g SV98 specs are: 331g/11.6oz (for now) strung w/ OG, dampener, silicone in the buttcap (6g), and lead underneath the grip (5g) and at 12 o’clock (8g for now) I don’t know balance or SW just yet.
Another one just for fun, compared to my specs for my ‘16 Babolat PA: 347g/12.2oz strung w/ OG, dampener, and lead at 12 o’clock (12g) and buttcap (5g), 346SW, and 7 pts HL.

I really like the look of that one.I just got the new Vcore 98 and 100 and the design is.... different! The blue really makes them look like a christmas ornament, as a good friend to me so nicely put it. Very very very strange choice and i dont really understand the idea behind that blueish part of the frame. It´s a very bold move by yonex to make it like this on the Vcore, but they actually had a similar designelement already on their Ezone Ai frames:

I’m not following you. How does thicker beam make a frame more stable? It’s the weight, and where it is placed that affects the stability.
Now, I do agree it needs customization. I use the current ‘+’ and have changed to a thicker base grip and added about 5g of lead in the throat. I’m at 332g strung w/ overwrap.

I love the VC95 due many factors, including feel, beam and look. A slightly thicker beam maybe a bit more stable but the blue on the frame I didnt understand.. would be curious about feel and RA, knowing Yonnex, I am guessing they will make it a bit stiffer, similar to 95D or SV...

Yes the one thing I don't like about Yonex, they mess with the iterations a little too much. The Vcore has gone from stiff striker, to muted and less predictable in 3 models. I'll still try to hit with it, but the VC98 is not the SV98! I do find it strange they say in the marketing that they reduced the hoop thickness by 3%, yet it's 0.5mm thicker?

It’s not ugly but it’s definitely an odd choice.
I mean one could just easily take the current red and paint it themselves if one needs to always have the latest cosmetic. At least from a distance. A little teal here a very little amount of teal there.
But if I knew nothing of the history of the line. How dominant the red has been in almost every version I’d probably look at that and think it looked alright.
If I really wanted to wow people I’d had made this pj the limited version and the all gray the new version. Just reversed the releases. But it’s whatever. The racquet will sell. It’s a great PA alternative

Not too sold on the beam width of the 98, will probably just stick to the galaxy 98...
Plays great with tour bite soft and is at a level of comfort my wrist can handle...
The 95 on the other hand, if it is a bit more powerful than the previous version while keeping the same feeling it could well be interesting.

BTW, the SV s also had a bit of teal in their design. Just a very tiny bit, but it was there. I don’t care about the paintjob by the way, I’m staying with my SV95 anyway, but I think it is interesting that a racquet can attract so much discussion just because of some little splashes of teal... lol.

Agreed! It has that 360+ Prestige vibe that I dislike. Could 2021 be the “ugly paintjob” year? The new 2021 Gravity paintjob is another example.
If they keep it red, i’d rather they choose a more burgundy red, à la Youtek Prestige from 2010-2011

I just hope that the new 98 will feel more solid! Against heavy hitters, in stock form it feels flimsier than an SV95 or even a VC95.

The shape of the head on these 2021 versions look odd to me. It seems like Yonex is slowly moving away from the classic isometric head shape that made them so famous and loved by many. Soon Yonex is just going to be another ordinary racket manufacturer with really bad paint jobs. Sad

The SV98 was extremely stiff. And this is coming from someone who has used stiff frames in the past (Pure Control Swirly, Hyper ProStaff 6.1, etc). And I am also a fan of 16x20.Wish I tried the SV98. I wanna try the VCore 98 in the 16x20. Only the 95 is 16x20 still
But the SV98 was unusable IMO. Some do like it, but it’s a small group.

Not that the Blade v7 paintjob looked bad in pictures, but when I recieved mine I noted just how much better it looked in person. Hell, even the shape or mould tend to look off in digital photos.

You can buy the weight you want, at $300+. The Japan only Yonex custom fit service has can build you one that's 310g +/- 2g at 310mm, which is a perfect basic frame to customize. It's like Angell lite, but with the Yonex QC! I will be hitting with the VC98/100 2021 this week. Will see how much it has changed from the previous 2 versions.

lol. So...I went to take a screenshot of the image in that link, which I was going to upload to Flickr. I brought the screenshot up, but moved it to my 2nd monitor. And lo & behold...its red!
So apparently one of my monitors needs a color correction. Ignore my 'orange' comment...it was me...
