I think it’s so interesting how a lot you out here rely on these reviews so much. Sometimes a new racquet comes out and everybody here likes it and then the review gives some negatives and everybody is switching out of the racquet again. It’s not that good after all... I mean yeah, they wanna sell new racquets and they’re doing a great job in convincing so many people here that the new generation is so much better, you need to buy it! It’s actually funny how easy this works. Yeah, why comment even, I’m asking this myself, so I’m out of here.
Peace out!
Keep buying everyone, if you really think that makes you a better player, or at least a happier person! Haha.
That was unnecessary. Reviews like that sell a lot of racquets because most people who have jobs don't have time demo every racquet out there. I mean you're looking at the Angell TC95 now, ostensibly because of reading about it somewhere here? We are all here to share information, what anyone gleans from 400 posts in a thread can be hit or miss, but that's tennis too?

I wouldn’t put out a general statement like this. I have friends who played the German Bundesliga with 305 unstrung sticks. It highly depends on your play style.
This summer I lost a match against a 19 year-old, who is among the top 450 in Germany. This guy played with a 290 unstrung grams stick and was hitting incredibly hard winners left and right of me. He has no issues with stability.
I often wonder how a lot of the hobby players on this forum play with a 360 grams plus racquet. Yeah, the feeling and plow must be addictive, but that is where it ends for me. I’m pretty sure most of these guys would be better off with like 340 strung.

Come on if you don’t put a half a pound of lead and a leather grip on your racket you are not a TT certified bad ***. Only wimps would dare use a light racket, real men use a racket that weighs at least 360 grams.

in the end its preference of swing speed.
the smart ones know that force (N) = mass (kg) × acceleration (m/s2).
same concept in bowling. some players use a lighter ball, but can effectively throw bowl? it faster.

Why are Yonex' prices skyrocketing? And why aren't the prices on the older models going down?

I can't believe the new VCORES will be $305 after this temporary sale. Does Yonex know there is a global pandemic?

Also, why are the older models only $10 cheaper?

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills..

it is very expensive yeah with 240€ on TWE. But I am sure in a month or two the prices will go down anyway as usual...

I’m guessing you’re being somewhat facetious? You do realize the “$305” is “MSRP”, and they’ve “authorized” retailers to sell it at $239 permanently, don’t you?

The new EZONE has been “$229 $290” for almost a year now.

all the major brands are very similar in price when new
yonex is doing well because they compete at the same price, but offer better QC

I actually didn’t know. I thought it was similar to the Head Speed line which had the same thing. I guess that’s somewhat good news. Still really disappointed that the prior gen didn’t go down in price.

It is actually surprising that there aren't more reviews out there. Where I live we don't have access to "demo programs" and many clubs only offer one brand. Therefore one of the only ways to get some kind of impressions of how a racquet might play is by reading reviews. Challenge with reviews is that it is heavily influenced by the play level of the person doing the review. But still, the review is only a starting point. Forums can offer some further useful insights.

I am pretty sure that most players totally know that by switching to a "newer" model of a racquet they will not play any better. Just like in most sports, we all like our "gadgets"; some less while others are always keen on the "latest" toys out there. I have only played tennis for 6 years myself and I have definitely seen a huge difference in how I play with different racquets. I have tried racquets between 285 - 310 grams and the racquet does affect my game a lot. Of course the industry always has to come up with "new tech" to keep players buying new racquets; just like in most other industries. Nothing new really.

Tennis as a sport is highly addictive and the feeling when hitting the ball well is just "really nice". Therefore, I am not surprised that tennis players are interested in seeing if a "new" racquets might make it even better.

Forums such as this one is for people who have an interest in the topic. For those that do no have an interest, most likely they won't even enter the forum in the first place. And for those that are completely uninterested but still have ended up on the forum, don't have to comment at all :)

On TWE the 2020 Ezone 98 has dropped to 174,91 from 249. Give it a year and the VCORE will see reduction in europe at least.

Having said that I feel like the slide towards $250-300 is bad, at $150 I will take a punt on a new racket or even 2 from the family (98/95) and just buy it day 1 but at $250 I will wait for a sale and then a new racket might come out that draws my attention which means a company like Yonex loses a sale or two because they went in too high.

Worried about $250!!!! Here in Australia you can be looking at up to $400 for a player frame, Its about $350AUD here atm for an EZone or a VCore, and around $380 for a Prestige.

Even with adjusting for exchange rates, we and quite possibly the importers do seem to get a raw deal.

So from what we've seen, everyone seems to be in agreement that the 98 and 100 are an improvement over the 2018 versions, but slightly mixed opinions on the 95. Karue loves the new 95, but Coach Gu and Tennis spin seem to like the prior just a tad bit more (as does Tennisnerd).
By the way, TW does such a great job with their reviews (y)

- Tecnifibre Ice Code 120
- Solinco Confidential 120
- WeissCannon Silverstring 120
- Head Lynx Edge 125

Looking forward to reading more reviews as more people get theirs on the court. I thought my holicness was over once I settled on the second gen Pure Strike 16x19, but over time I developed elbow problems for the first time. I’ve since been on the search for a racquet that plays similar but not as harsh on the arm but have yet to find one I like as much as I did the PS.

I’m currently playing with the DR 98. It’s a fun racquet to play with, but even after trying all different types of strings and tensions I’ve still not been able to dial it in for my strokes. I find the launch angle to be too low, so too often I’m clipping the net or if I try to adjust the balls start sailing long on me. I’m hoping this new vcore might be a closer replacement to the PS.

I’ve been demoing a lot of Yonex frames lately and I really liked the Vcore pro 97, the Vcore pro 100, the Vcore 98 305 and the Vcore98 red 285. They all have strong points but I think I am going to go with the Vcore98 red 285. This racket plays amazing especially for its weight, swings really easy and produces great spin with exceptional control and of course a lot of room for customizing.

I finally had a chance to hit with my 98 today. Had it stung with blue 1.25 Poly Tour Pro @ 50/48. I'm not sure if it was due to my string choice but the racket didnt seem to be exceptional at any one thing. It was more... above average at everything. It was also fairly arm-friendly.

I'm looking forward to hearing more feedback and string reviews for this frame.
