New Zealand's Rubin Statham is through to the US Open Qualifying

RUBIN STATHAM makes it through to the 2016 US Open qualifying for the first time!!!!
Rubin beat Nicholas Meister 61 62 in the final of the USTA wildcard play off tournament.
Congratulations Rubin! A huge effort to get through the 4 matches in the final plus at least 4 more in the regional's as well.
He is up against Duckee Lee in the first round who is ranked over 200 places higher at 191 and will have to play his best tennis to make it into round 2.

That is a good news for New Zealand tennis. Hopefully, someone like Finn Tearney can also break it through! Finn, is a nice humble guy off court.
Many of NZ tennis players can be quite an arrogant and that is just quite sad knowing the facts they are not close enough to be a super star.
Being good in NZ doesn't mean anything because NZ is a small country.
