Rookie
I would like to attend Newk's for tennis camp the first full week in March and was wondering if any others may be planning to attend and possibly interested in taking advantage of the companion rates. It's a nice week to go as there are a couple of tournaments near by on the weekend the camp concludes to test your new found abilities.

Yeah, pre-event festivities and possibly post event too, if you play well ;-)

Tahoe, maybe? I was just going to email you about the weekend as I was thinking of heading south for surf depending on the forcast. I'll send you a message.

Newks March 4 - 7

I will be at Newks for the Sunday - Tuesday portion. Enjoy the place too much, my body doesn't usually hold together after 3 days of 6 - 7 hours of go for it tennis. I will arrive Sunday night and take off Tuesday evening.

Currently nursing a torn calf back into shape so hoping it is good to go by Newks time.

Awesome, what city you coming from? What do you like that keeps you going back? 6-7hrs, I hope I can take it. I'm also talking with another TW member this afternoon about going.

going to Newks from Calgary

I will visit famiy in Houston and then to Newks for 2 1/2 days. I play pretty hard while there so i get some body part sore after about three days. I am nervous this trip due to a torn calf muscle that is slow to heal. Hope i make it the full 2 1/2 days.

Texas Scrambler, we'll have to hit a few balls at Newk's, Digs and I will be there the 4th-9th, Sun-Fri and playing the Hooters Open Fri-Sun in San Antonio.

Oh, and Digs is also a kanuck.

How was the rest of your week at Newks and the Hooters Open?

EVW and Diggs
I hope you had a great week at Newks and EVW kicked some Hooter butt in the tourney. Let me know how your week went.

newks update

Here is my report on a week at Newk's and the following Hooters tournament.

I would highly recommend the camp mid-week for those more serious about tennis than socializing. We had 5-7 attendees and always at least two teaching pros. I'm not easily impressed actually, I'm rarely impressed by most pros. But I have to say they have some top notch staff. I hit tons of balls and played 4 matches in the afternoons over the course of the week. If you are a better player, I highly recommend you request matches and hitting time with the academy kids. My matches consisted of 2 against teaching pros, a match against a senior academy student and lastly one with a college age guy training with the academy and playing futures events.

Will update more later....

Weather was great first half of the week and then turned cold and rainy for the remainder. This carried into the weekend, erasing two days of the tournament. We played a reduced format Sunday afternoon, both Dig's and I won one and lost one. A couple of days stuck inside didn't do us any good but we were both happy to at least get in some tennis before having to immediately hit the road. Oh, and it rained all week after I got back...so much for all that training. And I really felt like I was hitting the ball well at the end of the week, I guess that's what 7 hours a day on the court does for you.

All in all a worth while endeavor that would have been made better by additional cooperation from mother nature.

I give Newk's a thumbs up.
