Who will be next to retire?
Hewitt? AO 2013 would be a respectable place to bow out, but I think he still wants to march on another year or two.
Ferrero this year Valencia!
Good call, I forgot about LLeyton
I voted for Fish on medical grounds given his two recent heart scares.
Is Bastl still active btw?
Hewitt is next to retire.
I thought he already confirmed his retirement?
if not him, then I'm going to say Davydenko. You can tell his passion for the game is fading & fading fast.
Bhupathi is retiring next year
Hewitt/Davy. Nalby might still have some to go for another year. Haas is playing great since defeating Fed in Halle, probably motivation will prolong for another year or so.
Soderling? It's now over a year since the illness began AND he is to be a father any day now. Ancic never recovered from his mono.
It will be sad if he doesn't get back but very understandable.
Isn't Ancic officially retired yet?! Wow.. I thought that he would have said goodbye to the game a long time ago..
Swedish news reported that Söderling is shooting for a comeback at the beginning of next year!
Ancic recovered from the mono, but he never recovered from the back injury.
Yes, he's officially retired. He's taking a graduate law course at Columbia in NYC, there's a thread in the retired pro section.
I say Hewitt is the next to retire, at the Aus Open. After Hewitt, I would guess Davydenko. Haas will do one more full year if he can stay healthy, I think Nalbandian will make it as far as the USO next year.
I can't imagine tennis still being for Hewitt.
At age 38?! Didn't even know he was still around. Still not sure if he is a "big name" player though...
I'd say Hewitt.
Chela just announced his retirement
^^^meant to be quoting mainad^^^..soz about admin error...btw i saw george bastl is still playing he was in the qualifiers of a atp tour or a challenger event i noticed when i was looking up someone else in the summer.
i go for mr fish too..2nd time fish been stopped by heart problems..
recently in english football in premier league..a player who retired with heart trouble age 27 after seeing fabrice muamba of bolton wanderers collapse and nearly die (his heart stopped on the football field)..
well it didnt save this other player (in lower leagues, not english premier league, dont know name)..as he died of heart failure over the weekend .
whats mardy wanna do ???..die on court. un-vamos.
I also think Mardy will retire soon.
Wow, I remember Henman beating him in the French QF's back in 2004. Didn't realise he was still around...
PS. I vote for David Nalbandian to retire next. Or maybe be banned if he repeats his antics at Queens.
He made QFs @ USO in 2007 and RG in 2011 - he's been hanging in there.
