Nick Kyrgios has apologised to the Polish lawyer he had thrown out of the Wimbledon Men’s Final after accusing her of being drunk.

Ania Palus, 32, was ejected from Centre Court in July after the Australian tennis ace said she’d had “700 drinks”.

The 27-year-old world number 22 has now admitted he was “mistaken” over his outburst.

He has donated AUD$35,000 to Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity, chosen by Miss Palus, to “resolve” the defamation lawsuit.

Kyrgios said: “I told the umpire that a fan, who I now know to be Ania Palus, was distracting me, believing she was drunk.

“I accept that belief was mistaken, and I apologise.”

After the final, Miss Palus said she had drank a Pimms and a rosé and was trying to support Kyrgios, who lost to Novak Djokovic.

She was given water and allowed back into the match after 15 minutes.

Yeah I mean he shouldn't have had to donate anything. Zero excuse for talking then.

Edit: Watched through to the conversation with the umpire after the game and he just said "looks like she's had 700 drinks" not that she'd had 700 drinks. Did he say it differently elsewhere?

This world is so scary nowadays that I'd probably shut up and won't interact with any person out there just in case they sue me for what I say or do. I hope they don't sue me for not doing anything to them.

at least he didn't have to pay $965 million for what he said.

Blimey, she'll get a lot worse now she's been identified to the wider public rather than just one or two spectators around her at the time.
