Nick Kyrgios is targeting a major title during his 2025 comeback to ‘shut people up’

This would only be interesting if he said the right things.

If he came out and said: "I never really tried, trained, got coaching, cared, nor took it seriously. This time around I am going to do all of that and know for sure what I can do at my very best. I wasted years, but I will not waste this one last go. I am committed to being a serious professional tennis player and my goal is to win slams. Tennis will be my life 100%."

But no, he gave so chirping reasons as to why. Lame.

Oh come on - such a big ego, such a bad mouth, such a waste of good talent. Keep dreaming.

He's nearly 30 now. I hope he's conscious of the passing of time. He's probably got a window of 2 years before he's in physical decline. I still believe that outside of the GOATs, most athletes start to decline in their early 30's. Particularly, the athletes who don't take care of their bodies. Good luck to him, but he needs to realise it's now or never, no more fooling around.

Among the tall-not-ueber-tall players he had the best serve for a long time. Traditionally superior servers and ballstriker have greater longevity as they don't rely on the extra in their legs. So this is a plus for him but his lifestyle...

P.S: Effort would make a big difference for him as his return point percentage is markedly lower than his break point conversion would suggests which indicates a considerably lower one on average.

The biggest problem for Kyrgios: to a win a slam you have to beat Alcaraz or Sinner or both!
He's never played Alcaraz and he's played Sinner once and lost...

No he doesn't. He's a Top 20 talent. But not a Slam winner. And certainly not an ATG (multiple Slam Winner). Tell my you wouldn't have been shocked to see Nick hold it together for 2 weeks to win a Slam (or even a Masters).

Winning a Slam isn't just beating Djokovic in one match. Granted, that is impressive (and something few could do). But it's not even close to the same as winning a Slam. Sure, Nick could "catch lightening in a bottle" for 2 weeks. It's not out of the question (or I should say it wasn't out of the question when he was fitter). But it was always very, very unlikely.
So you disregarded the rest of my post to essentially say the same I say in the disregarded lines. Ok.

His motivation apparently is to get more famous and to have more SoMe followers or whatever. I don't see him putting in the practice AND staying injury free.

Sure he has the shots and sure he got lucky and to a final of Wimbledon, sure he won an inspired doubles GS. But does lightning strike twice, prob not, and I think best he can hope for is a couple of good wins so that he can say he could still win against anybody.

I could see him taking Wimbledon. I think he could overwhelm Alcaraz and Djoko is becoming a bigger nonfactor.

Sinner is the wild card for Kyrgios.

Yes

Wimbledon field will allow this guy to just walk into final. No 6 previous matches needed at all. Just like the good old days.

This broken body fake warrior most likely doesn't survive playing 6 matches before he is holding on to his hip like a 75 year old.

And what is up with that back hunch, it keeps getting bigger. Looks like Boris after hip surgery.

Nick is oblivious to a few important facts here. First, no one is on him about his game. And on that, second is, winning a GS isn't going to make him a better or more liked and less talked-about male diva.

Nick Kyrgios is targeting a major title during his 2025 comeback to ‘shut people up’:

“I am coming back because something is keeping me around the game. I have beaten pretty much every person that has been put in front of me, made a final of a Grand Slam, won a doubles title in a Grand Slam, won multiple titles and made money.

But I think the one thing that is now on my target is a Grand Slam. I think that will be the only thing that will shut people up at the end of the day. That’ll be my deep motivation.”
If he's doing it to shut people up, he should stay retired.

Kyrgios has been watching tennis from home and reminiscing his wins over tsiti. If he faces sinner and alcaraz, he will see a much higher level of tennis. Probably he will retire again saying he likes basketball better.

I like the idea of Nick returning to the tour and being a dangerous floater but I don’t want him to make another major final. I don’t trust him mentally in the pressure cooker environment of a major final after seeing him give up in that Wimbledon title match. I want to see Sinncaraz finals now, or guys who have proven that they can bring it in a final, or maybe a fresh face with an X factor who hasn’t yet had the chance but is likely to be more solid mentally and physically in a pressure situation.
It is going to get boring pretty fast with just those two, we need my man Nick to stir the pot.
