Nick Kyrgios would have "destroyed" John McEnroe if they had clashed at their peaks ?

When Nick compares players from hugely different eras, he always does so in a straight comparison, which is always more unfair on the older player.

What did surprise me a bit was how dismissive he was of Agassi a little while back, not even adjusting for eras, I'd take Andre over Nick.

Nick said something "proactive" and "controversial"? I can't believe it. I have to click on the article. I'm sure it will be very interesting.

I want to thank the OP for bringing this to our attention.

Not many places are reporting this so called "story" just the joke outdated clickbait news websites that are always full of adverts. His comments used to generate more appeal but It's clear his one-trick attention seeking comments are getting old for most journalists. I give it a couple more years and he'll be gone from the public eye for good. I truely don't understand why he gets any attention at all anyways, he wasn't even a great tennis player, is an abuser and he has the most boring commentary voice. He has no appeal other than the few flicks of "drama" he created.

Poor Nick, of course he could always start playing again to back up his claims. Talk is cheap and Nick has no results that remotely back up his claims.

If the Kyrgios of 2022 with 2022 equipment played against the McEnroe of the 1980s with 1980s equipment, Kyrgios wins. That's not really the real picture. With 1980s equipment for both, McEnroe wins easily.

McEnroe was a great returner during his peak. Even during the PowerShares series in 2015, the 56 year old Mac did a decent job returning Roddick’s serves, which were clocked as high as 132 that night. Roddick beat Mac 6-3. But still. Even Mac at age 56 displayed his killer reflexes, despite having no legs behind him. Roddick also mentioned how Mac’s incredible net play threw him off. Roddick was only 32 years old and 3 years removed from the ATP. Mac was over 2 decades removed from the ATP.

Peak Mac was incredible at blocking back bomb serves on fast surfaces.

Kyrgios needs to stop smoking bath salts for a living.

John McEnroe brutally dismissed by Nick Kyrgios as BBC pundits face awkward chat

Nick Kyrgios has made the bold claim that he would have "destroyed" tennis legend John McEnroe if they had clashed at their peaks.
Nick's comment is not bold it's (fill in the blank) stupid.

Nick has won seven titles total, no grand slams. McEnroe has won seventy seven titles including seven grand slams. There were big servers back in McEnroes day as well and like it or not Nick's game is all about his serve and without his serve he would be a very average player.

Cant believe how many members here missed the evolution of tennis. Peak Kirgyos, one of the tours biggest idiots would obviously beat peak McEnroe.

Kyrgios has one slam final (where he got smoked by Novak and had the easiest draw with a walkover in the SF) and then just three other slam QF’s. He is a nothing player.

He couldn’t even compare to Berdych or Ferrer let alone DelPo or Murray let alone to compare to McEnroe? Embarassing.

Kyrgios is awful and should not be allowed to commentate or do anything in the sport of tennis. Disgrace.

What's more important is that Mac greater in his time than Kyrgios was in his.
Kyrgios will probably most be remembered for his non tennis things like the court case where he pled guilty to assaulting his girlfriend or for the “Kokkinakis banged your girlfriend, sorry to tell you mate” comment to Wawrinka.

Kyrgios is an embarrassment, even here in Australia.

If they were playing, and McEnroe was losing, Mac would throw a tantrum and perform a disruption that Nick's tiny little mind couldn't handle.

kyrgios probly thinks hes allowed to play with his extra long yonex poly racquet while mac has to play with his max200g..

wasnt mcenroe returning roddicks serve in WTT as a 45 year old?

In 2006 with a more modern racquet, Mac served around 120 mph tops. You'd think he would be even faster during his peak years with modern racquets and strings. So he's not that far off from Kyrgios.
All in all, I'd rather have JMac's serve than the other dude's. Great, great spot-server under pressure.
