Nick Kyrgios would have "destroyed" John McEnroe if they had clashed at their peaks ?

When Nick compares players from hugely different eras, he always does so in a straight comparison, which is always more unfair on the older player.

What did surprise me a bit was how dismissive he was of Agassi a little while back, not even adjusting for eras, I'd take Andre over Nick.
Agassi was very good versus big servers. At getting aced.

Vs Agassi you just go 2 first serves and you type gg every service game.

sure, but Agassi can also hit more authoritative forehands in one match than Kyrgios in an entire lifetime. we can count changeover air-thrusts, DX crotch chops and racquet jack-offs as big forehands hit with margin and the gap still wouldn’t close entirely.

Cmon man I get the trolling but this is Nick lol

hang on let the man cook. Dre’s virgin 62.1% returns in play can’t hang with Nick’s chad 63.4% return-botting.

The 10% difference in RiP winning % (54% for Agassi, one of the best ever to 44% for Nick, one of the worst ever) is what us enlightened data analysts refer to as a mere rounding error.

If 90% of the tennis players today had to play with the racquets and strings that McEnroe did, on the surfaces he did, including that round Wu-Tang fan in that famous picture, they'd never have become tennis players in the first place. Wouldn't have had the means, the patience, the skill. Tennis has been dumbed down so we can have idiots like this talk as dumb as they play.

Tell that to Michael Stich, Pete Sampras or Boris Becker.

Agassi was harder to ace than you think.

Sorry to tell you mate.

They were all tactically inept apparently. Should have just went for 2 first serves and claimed the win, EZ.

Some TTW rando poster who barely watched Agassi play figured out a failproof strategy against him. It's one of those magical TTW moments.

Mac has more talent in his pinkie finger than Nick has in his delusional body.

7 slams in the bunty dink era
Mac has never even returned a 130mph serve ever
Nonsense. Kyrgios is a bitter simpleton screaming out for attention against players and fields he either played against and failed, or would fail against in hypothetical match-ups. There's not a single thing Kyrgios has in his "skill set" that McEnroe did not have above him. Moreover, McEnroe dealt with big servers in his career, among them several of the best, such as Becker, Goran, Lendl and Sampras, so you do not know what you are talking about.

Kyrgios is eternally angry that he's a failure, and no one will ever buy his numerous excuses for being incompetent in his so-called profession.

Tennis has been dumbed down so we can have idiots like this talk as dumb as they play.

^ This. This is the most intellectually / talent-challenged men's generation in the sport's history.

McEnroe was a great returner during his peak. Even during the PowerShares series in 2015, the 56 year old Mac did a decent job returning Roddick’s serves, which were clocked as high as 132 that night. Roddick beat Mac 6-3. But still. Even Mac at age 56 displayed his killer reflexes, despite having no legs behind him. Roddick also mentioned how Mac’s incredible net play threw him off. Roddick was only 32 years old and 3 years removed from the ATP. Mac was over 2 decades removed from the ATP.

Peak Mac was incredible at blocking back bomb serves on fast surfaces.

Kyrgios needs to stop smoking bath salts for a living.
mac's hands were something else of course and that absolutely translated into an exceptional return game....and he took those bombs from the baseline or closer a lot of the time. not just blocks either, he had that 'hard bunt' thing down pat. he'd be a nightmare for nick and his big windup forehand. don't get me wrong, kyrgios did do a fair amount of backing up his talk in his brief time on tour with some big wins...but mac's another level.
