Nick laments that, with the exception of Hewitt, none of the Australian greats have expressed support for him

Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios has expressed his disappointment at what he said was a lack of support from former Australian men’s champions during his title charge, calling himself an “outcast”.

In surprising comments uttered when asked about what it would be like to join the illustrious list of Australian champions at Wimbledon, Kyrgios said one former player was a notable exception - Davis Cup captain and the last Australian man to win in London, Lleyton Hewitt.

“As for the greats of Australian tennis, they haven’t always been the nicest to me personally,” said Kyrgios, who will play former world No.1 Novak Djokovic in Sunday night’s final (AEST).
“They haven’t always been supportive. They haven’t been supportive these two weeks. So it’s hard for me to kind of read things that they say about me.”

Another Wimbledon champion, 1987 winner Pat Cash, had Kyrgios in his sights, saying the controversial Canberra showman was turning the game into a circus, following his behaviour during the third-round win over Stefanos Tsitsipas.
“It’s pretty sad because I don’t get any support from any of the other Australian tennis players, the male side,” said Kyrgios.

Kyrgios has spent his whole career saying ****ty things about guys like Rafter and Cash and ****ing over the Davis Cup team so it’s no surprise they aren’t falling over themselves to praise him

plus given the allegations they’re probably afraid of being cancelled if they look too supportive

Judging by your username and avi I can ascertain you clearly have no bias on this matter

Hewitt was a bit of a rebel himself so he probably understands it more.

but perhaps that is a little prejudicial of me, no?

Nick will be so tired from his constant performances of love ballads such as All by Myself and Cry me a river, he'll be too exhausted to be competitive in the final and go down in straights.
Which is happening anyway, but still.

Look at how freaking John McEnroe has softened in old age? Who cares what 50+ retirees think of prime athletes? Coach or shut up.

Most of the past greats are probably deeply, if unconsciously, racist. In fact, his only friend, Hewitt, got into hot water for calling a linesman a black so-and-so at the US Open.

He got into hot water for yelling "What's the similarity, what's the similarity." He was playing a black player (James Blake?) and didn't like a call a black linesman made. It was lost on Hewitt that for black players 90%+ of the time, they're dealing with the "similarity" of a white line judge and white player.

Why should he be biased to say Kyrgios hasn't done himself any favours? The mere fact that Nick has the gall to express disappointment is just further proof of how far his head is up his own backside.
I was merely pointing out that he would clearly be siding with Cash given his obvious published fandom. At no point have I shown to be in agreement or disagreement with the OP so not sure why the aggressive response. Similarly not sure why you appear to be white-knighting for someone who has just shown their inability of rational conversation

Is Kyrgios kidding? Lmao. He attacked Lleyton so many times for supporting certain Aussie players and not others. He criticised Lleyton for his support of De Minaur while ignoring the POC players. I can give links but feel free to google y’all. This is laughable. Kyrgios once defended Tomic against Hewitt but suddenly Lleyton is his hero? Lol.

Here is just a little something. Tomic (funnily enough) defended Nick and Thanasi. Because Lleyton followed his favourite De Minaur. Let’s not act like these guys have always been buddies. Hewitt always had his favourite.

Whatever happened to 'tennis is an individual sport, nationality doesn't matter'?

If they don't like him, they don't have to root for him just like any poster here.

Everyone loved Barty. She was Aboriginal but she was lovely. Kyrgios is a d!ckhead who is charged with domestic violence.

Why should anyone support someone only because he's from the same country in the first place? And why should there be any need to show it in public?

Let’s be honest, Australians are very racist. My Aussie friends told me a lot of horror stories. If you’re not Anglo Saxon you will be discriminated against. Greeks, Italians, Slavs, Arabs, Asians, you name it.

What BS. The Aussie DC team crapped all over Nick this year when they didn't select him to play doubles against Hungary even though he won the doubles at the AO.

In his own words "he needs to man up and grow a pair". Win or lose his still an a-hole. Hewitt was a brat who matured, Cash said stuff he regrets, Flipper made bad life choices, all three of these are decent men, but, Nick is 27 going on 12 and has some rather bad personality issues that those around him can't help because is is what he is and will likely age as an grump a-hole.

Now he understands how Djokovic felt his whole career. Except Djokovic is a real man who rose above it, because he has the mental strength to do so, whereas Kyrgios is a little mental midget snowflake who desperately needs people to "like" him because he's that insecure. Pathetic.

Just goes to show the massive difference between big 3 generation and next gens. Tennis is in a dire state when big 3 and their generation all retire and all we have is these mental midget snowflakes.

No worry...everyone will be on the bandwagon after he beats Joker.
No they won't, seriously he has potential within the Aust Tennis network to be a ghost winner. Only populous media will talk much about it and given the woke media and his current discretion it will be flat. Tennis Aust don't need Nick nor after his constant issues do they like or respect him.
