Nick plays doubles tomorrow - Why??!!

He's no longer a journeyman scrambling to make ends meet. This is the part of his career he's supposed to start getting peak, concentrate on singles and start winning slams. But he plays almost 4 tie break decided sets, 3 hrs, and plays another doubles match tomorrow. Sounds to me like out of common sense...

Because Dmitrov will be hitting a lot of balls in the doubles lines.

I don't see it as a big deal honestly. Nadal practices 3-4 hours a day on his off days IIRC and doubles isn't that taxing. He is only 22 right? I probably wouldn't for fear of a freak injury but it can help his net game too.

@All above..

Understood. If it ain't tiring, worth good practice, we should be seeing more players especially at the top 10 playing both, which is not the case. There must be a good reason why eventually players want to concentrate on singles and the glory there. If it is free brownies, why isn't the big 4 or anyone else in the top 10 doing it? Agreed nick is young now but over playing is not a good idea in the long run.
Doubles ain't tiring, just practice.

He's not going to be physically exhausting himself in dubs. Relax.

There might be good reasons to play doubles, but Krygios is quite stupid and without a coach so it's more probable that sound reasoning is not behind his decision.

I can read the future. Potential excuse of Federer fans if Nadal beats Kyrgios in SF: "Kyrgios was tired of playing doubles". They always have a Conspiracy Theory to deny the merit of Nadal's victories.

I hope I am completely wrong and if Nadal beats Kyrgios nobody start to put that excuse.

I can also read the future. Nadal fans will be butthurt when Federer wins the AO anyway and once again their plans for Nadal will be squashed.

but this is not a discussion about Zverev
No, it's about Krygios who is by all means an overrated mug with limited potential. Could barely get by a declining Tsonga, just lol.

I can imagine your response, if Rafa was playing doubles. You would go absolutely ballistic :D

Be honest now: Would you say "Not a big deal"?
