Nole's racket is measured strung.
To the dgoran's comment -- yes, looks like he's using the Pro stock of the MG Radical MP painted in the Speed. Strung flex of 60.

THat picture where he compares it to the retail speed -- what is the length of the retail speed, 27.5? I assume Novak is using the standard, 27", length?

Almagro's racquet has the matt finish of the 500. The Tour has that glossy chrome pj. Very interesting.

Great pics though, cheers.

Fantastic post - nice knowing the flex now.

The 358 grams is a a few grams off from previous, known measurements but I noticed that the racquet is on the machine without the dampener which would account for that. So Djokovic essentially uses a tgk231.something.

On the length of the middle racquet looking longer than the one on the top - I think that they aren't parallel with the butt end of the middle frame further away than the 12:00 positions making it look like the middle one is longer at both ends.

I just checked TW specs and it says 27 inches for YT IG and YT speeds but I thought that stock was 27.2 inches.

Love the matt black of Almagro's frame. Looks sweet! Wish I could get that PJ for sure!

almagro frame was unstrung at 342 gms.. compare to djokovic STRUNG 358 gms.. so Almagros frame would be aroung 350+ gms ^^

Almagro's racquet, strung + overgrip should be 360+ grams, heavier in fact than Nole's racquet.

Nico's swingweight when strung, however, should be about 338 kg*cm^2, whereas Djokovic's is in fact 370. That's 32 kg*cm^2 heavier (for the mathematically challenged out there).

iv missed this pls explain why

sorry

I was sort of joking, but don't be sorry.

It's been thoroughly established that Nole's personal racquet does not come from the retail Speed mold he endorses, but rather the Microgel MP mold.

Supposition has however, been that he uses a custom layup which is very flexy, with a RA in the low 50's. We now know that his RA is actually 60, the same as the retail Microgel MP (according to racquettech). Ergo, it's not too much of a stretch to assume that the Microgel MP is the closest frame you can buy to Nole's. With this knowledge in mind, I was kidding that all the fanboys out there would scoop up some MG mp's since they're cheap and readily available.

You know, the MG Rad is a good racket.

BTW. Great pics. Thank you.

The MP is flexy and low powered. Somewhat of a wet noodle unless lead is added to give it some more pop. The pro is heavier and a bit harder to move around, imo. But it has more power and spin.

Is it my eyes or does the beam width on Almagro's racket look even and thinner than the 500T?

Anyone know what frame that is because I can't see any lead that makes it so heavy?

Great info, thanks for the pictures. I think Almagro uses big banger original, which is a very heavy string. His swingweight strung + overgrip will probably be 340-ish.

Thanks for the great photos!
Does Almagro really use a 16 x 18?!
I didn't think any pros really used such an open pattern.

EDIT: just counted. Looks like a custom 16 x 19.
