Nicolas Jarry's horrible 2024

Forgive Me Father

Hall of Fame
14-14 on the year. 13 tournaments, 8 1st round exits, 2 R2 exits, Buenos Aires F (R2 Etcheverry ret. after eading by a set), MIA QF, Rome F.

Those 3 long runs came via: R2 Etcheverry ret. after leading by a set in Buenos Aires + SF Alcaraz choke, Miami Draper served for the match and had 40-15 and wilted away, Rome QF Tsitsipas chokery.

Tough for elite players to play against cause he freely hits away, but everyone is so stable and sound off the ground nowadays, modern strings, that he has real issues to keep his game airtight against the tour.

ATP website says 16-14 for a W/L of 53.3% (assuming you excluded the two ATP cup wins which is fine). Last year feels like a bit of an outlier to be honest, his career win-loss is just under 53%.
2024 - 16-14* (53.3%)
2023 - 38-19 (66.7%)
2017-2022 - 54-61 (47.0%)

He's a good player and looks like a fearsome hitter when playing well - just doesn't happen anywhere near as often as it should. Slightly difficult history with him too with that temporary suspension but seems to have reverted to type. Essentially your classic tour level journeyman

I think he's doing okay.

Jarry did get hurt during RG leading to that final set bagel vs the diminutive Frog Moutet, I wouldn’t hold this loss against him.

So....you're lamenting that Jarry can't just hit winners through everyone he plays because they're solid off the ground? And it's the fault of ''modern strings'' as well? You understand that Jarry uses those modern strings as well right? BTW, those strings are what allows him to take massive cuts and hit winners from everywhere which got him to the IO final.

Wow, contender for dumbest post of the year right here.

Im not lamenting anything, I just explained something quite simple. Really wasnt anything to get upset about.
