Nike 2023 General Thread

Sinner and Alcaraz custom shoes ....Chances of new shoes in the future? Also because from what you can see and
we read from many places, the shelves are still full of Nike zoom nxt, Vapor 11 and vapor pro 2 shoes....While models like zoom vapor pro and turbo gp have sold better
Sinner shoes look like actual vp11 while alcaraz looks custom.
Alcaraz: Vapor pro laceline and vapor pro supports. THe drag guard of the outsole does not come up as high as sinners, and his goes wider.
Sinner: Vapor 11 retail version, (Custom Last??)

you mean like the Mac Attack they are releasing because they've been worn by... famous rapper Travis Scott - their vintage/old shoes are fashion now and worn by young people... thats why the retros are being released, not for 50 year olds.
You mean the same shoes that were labeled as "Grandpa shoes" by Gen Z right?

Why do you think they had Travis Scott attached to this release?

Just checking: "They" (Nike) had to attached Travis Scott to this release to attract attention (market) to... GenZ (ages 11-26yr)? But also Nike does not market to that demographic, only 40-55yr olds?

No. Their biggest market is 40-55.

I never said it was their only market.

Just to clarify.

And yes. Travis Scott was attached in an attempt to market to the younger people.

I really apprecaite you sharing that data, reinforces my opinion that their current strategy is really misguided

Look at the nike homepage, I dont see one pic of their core demo

Air Jordan 1 is a mega seller for them, and it's the younger generation buying them, There is no nostalgia attached to the success of that shoe.
Michael Jordan transcends generations. No question about it.

However, I would think that the kids who grew up in the '80s and '90s (that are old enough to remember the excitement, his sneakers brought to the basketball community) would be eager to own a few pairs.

They have the money to do it.

Also, the people that buy the Nike Air Tech Challenge sneakers were kids, teens, and young adults when Andre wore them 25-35 years ago.

The same goes for McEnroe.

It's the nostalgia that brings them back.

Yes. Thank you for sharing your information about Nike's precarious relationship with Tiger Woods and their future outlook on Nike Golf.

I had no idea that things had degenerated to that level, between them.

Based on what I've heard, I'd say that they're starting to show signs that they're going to be pulling out of a few sports, over the next few years.

They cut their marketing department for tennis earlier this year.

I guess the writing has been on the wall for a while now. :(

I can remember when they used to give the players a different outfit for every season.

Then there was a period of time where they kept giving Nadal the same shirt and shorts, only in different colorways.

That was an indication, all of those years ago, that they were starting to pull back.

Now they're doing that with all of the players. They re-using the same designs. Season after season.

Alcaraz really should have his own line by now.

But Nike doesn't seem to want to do that.

Instead, they're investing in Sinner. Which is completely insane.

The only way that Sinner is going to move stuff is if he starts winning grand slams. That's the only way.

Nobody wants to dress like that guy.

100% agreed

Look on the Big Bay of Ease...Alcaraz colors of the regular challenger tops are 2x more expensive than the ones worn by any other Nike athlete.

Alcaraz is already pushing secondary market values up. That solid pink shirt he wore this year? Can't find one listed for under $80, but the other colors are all over the site for $40 or less.

His yellow/blue version of it is hard to find and will fetch triple-digit sums when you do find it. Nothing Sinner wears has that kind of demand.

Have you ever wore the rafa advantage shorts 7 inch vs the normal advantange 7 inch do they fit much different aroujd the waist?

Also you know those advantange shorts from 3 years ago the ones which had a horizontal slit on the sides were they for putting a ball in?

The rafa one are much more angular, much smaller fitting more like underwear. The old slits were for them to go around your knees just like the new ones for this year

The slits are for the ball in your pocket, so it doesn't fly out from the hem of the shorts.

This is a welcome change bc I could never wear my 2015 Rafa Gladiator shorts for that reason. The ball, still in the pocket, would start slapping around during the point, and hit me in the nards a few times.

As to your question about the Rafa shorts, I can't say. I only wear 2-in-1 shorts now. But, they look a hell of a lot more aggressive and fashion forward than the regular shorts. You should be fine on the waist but you may also need bigger quads to fill the Rafa shorts out.

So this deep jungle colour way did they ever release it in a hat or wristband or something

Im astounded why nike doesn't release this stuff at the same time

That said the washed teal wristband headband came a full year before we had the shorts or to so hopefully there'll be some deep jungle accessories in future

Likewise the geode teal

I remember they had Premier wristbands in that color and there was also a Deep Jungle Featherlight hat. I think it was only juniors though.

Anyone know if t shirts released from winter/spring/fall are warmer than the summer collection? I am looking at nikecourt/rafa nikecourt dri-fit tennis t shirt.

Did they ever release the green abyss advantage shorts 7 inch in europe last year?

I only see it in cached data from google on american sites

I like the advantage 9 inch shorts and the 9 inch victory though the advantage shorts you can fit like 7 balls in each pocket without them falling out but the victory about 3 or 4 max

Victory has no stretch

The waist is all over the place though because they used to run a little bit tight and people complained it worked well for me as i didnt need to tie the draw string around the waist bear in mind i bought like 10 total of the same colour 8 from nike and 2 from elsewhere to choose the best fit

Of the initial few i got they were all tight waist then suddenly ones i got few months later were looser

Same with the advantage shorts they all fit fine without needing the draw string but then i got a diff colour a black pair of a newer batch and now the waist is too big even when i draw string it tight

I think they changed it due to complaints

This is awesome, and exactly what I was looking for.

So "Advantage" holds more balls (bigger pockets) and is stretchy. "Victory" has smaller (but still sufficient) pockets and no stretch. They are very close in price at Nike right now, so it sounds like a pair of Advantage are in my future.

Sadly the waistband variations are also most likely qc related; I’ve tried on four pairs of the same short in Niketown London in years past for example, and chosen the one or two pairs that were goldilocks.

They made the large bigger in the last year or so cos people complained about them.being too tight

Large is what I ordered, so I guess I'll get to compare them to my other Large tennis shorts. Should be here before Friday.

I must have gotten a pair of old stock because what I received fit tighter than any other pair of Large shorts I've ever put on.

I accidentally ordered my Champion MVP shorts in Small once...they weren't much tighter than these Nike in size Large. I have a pair of XL coming to see if they fit better.

I bought like 8 9 inch advantage shorts and they were same product code but diff colour code but different years and the tightness appeared to be pre 2023 they got looser then onwards in large

It wasnt as if was a bad batch I bought like 4-5 of them to choose the best fit of the same.colpur at diff times of the year

DD something

Are you saying that I should keep the Large in anticipation of them stretching out?

Im saying the shorts you need are from pre 2023 even though same product code

Ah. See, that conflicts what someone else said....that they made them larger because people complained that they were too tight. So it seems like the pre-23 would be even smaller. However, like I said, the ones I received are quite tight for a large; so your theory holds more water.
