Nike 2024 General Thread

That is fire. Love when the logo has a little pop of color. Unfortunately for me, most Nike tanks are too large in the neck no matter the size.

Isn't that a good thing?

I feel tanks look a little silly when the arm/neck holes are too tight. They should be roomy and leave the most skin open to the air/sun (IMO)

The arm hole I agree. I like the neck line tighter, just personal preference. I've tried a lot of Nike running tanks as well, but didn't vibe with those. I ended up buying a bunch of the Dri-Fit training sleeveless shirts (not the Legends ones that were previously linked) for the humid summer days.

Sigh. If they had put the lava pattern on the back of those with the color of the swoosh, like the shirts, they would’ve had a perfect sleeveless shirt. Alas.
Nah, keep it simple. I would have added the same color to some of the trim on the sleeveless to make it stand out a little more. I wonder if it fits like the last racer like sleeveless we got back in SP22/AO 2022

I like that idea too! Wishful thinking for both of us though haha

This is amazing, simple with a little color and it is just mhm-mhm

The only change I would have liked to see is that little color accent they're using on the necks of the regular crews. Otherwise yeah. And the colors are giving me echoes of Rafa's 2015 USO kit

not sure how i feel about all the volt on volt im seeing, but really like what sinner and alcaraz wore in cincy. pure class

if you have anything bad to say about these fits, i question your style. this is what tennis apparel should look like. thread the needle between classic fit/piping/color blocking with bold modern color

Sinner's kit is Ok. The blue and black look nice. I will say that.

Not bad. (y)

Alcaraz kit is so-so. The shoes don't really do it for me.

1. Is it actually Volt anymore though? I think it's a different color

2. Alcaraz's kit was good but the white socks/black shoes killed it for me. Awful

That's right. (y) I know crap when I see it.

So how do you know it's crap without seeing it up close? Show us what to look for.

Youre right, theyre calling it "cyber" which i believe was the same color from nadals 2022 FO wristbands

that being said, looks damn near close to volt in the american sun

1. The material is cheap. Nike uses 100% recycled polyester in place of spandex or cotton.

2. Nothing new or innovative. @gino had a great article about how Nike had been making an effort to reduce their production time by getting the product into the marketplace faster. This inevitably translates into spending less efforts on innovation while also cutting corners to keep up with the production time demands.

I'll give you a perfect example of this. How many seasons have we seen the Nike Vapor Cage 4? It used to be that they would change out the sneakers every year. But we've been stuck with that model for over four years.

And it's not even a very good shoe. To be perfectly honest.

The courtballistec 4.3 was a lot better. So was the Nike Air Max Cage II.

The Cage4 has only lasted this long bc it's Rafa's endorsed shoe. If his deal had ended, the shoe would have gone away. But obviously he's getting a lifetime deal with them or at least until the end of his playing days, so the shoe will be with us as long as he plays. I'm not mad at that, I love them.

Re the recycled material, I care less about what it's made of than about how it performs and how it lasts. If it performs and lasts then I'm not sure I can agree it is low quality.

Volt is very fluorescent and has a good dose of green to it. But yeah very close

But Nike used to update the sneakers every year.

Now they're stringing out the new model releases and updating far less often.

Of course, it wouldn't be so bad if the Vapor Cage 4 was a high quality performance shoe.

Unfortunately it's not.

So why do you wear them?

I'm ok with longer model cycles if they get them right. GP Turbo was another example of a great shoe that had an unexpectedly long run because of the economics around one of their star athletes.

I bought the Vapor Cage 4, because I couldn't find any more of the Nike Air Max Cage II.

Nike stopped production on the cage II back in early 2017.

I really wish they had kept that one going. :(

You mean Zoom Cage 2. Yeah that was a great shoe. I had 3 pairs of them and when I wore them out it started a long search that I ultimately solved with VC4+GP Turbo

Losing those sucked though. For sure.

Thank you! Yes. The Zoom Cage 2.

I has three pairs of them, also.

Fantastic shoe! (y)

Cyber is more of a medium greenish-yellow.

It doesn't really stand out.

I remember the yellow from Nadal's 2022 French Open kit. That colorway was very vibrant. Basically a neon.

That wouldn't be cyber.

The reason was due to supply chain issues and due the fact they thought he was going to retire and givng him a new shoe no one is wearing would not sell well.

I think only the wristbands were cyber

I looked on the Big Auction Site and found a pic of the shirt that showed the tag. Zoomed in on the tag and found the item number. Looked it up, color #321 = Cyber

Edit: that's not right either. 321 is Atomic Green. I found some images/links that suggested it was Cyber but Nike's own site has it as Atomic Green.
