Nike 2024 General Thread

I looked on the Big Auction Site and found a pic of the shirt that showed the tag. Zoomed in on the tag and found the item number. Looked it up, color #321 = Cyber

Edit: that's not right either. 321 is Atomic Green. I found some images/links that suggested it was Cyber but Nike's own site has it as Atomic Green.

Thanks for looking into it. That’s for the shirt right ? To me, the wristbands look lighter but I’m old and jaded

That is the shirt.

They do look like different colors, but I have two Nike shirts in Alabaster; the Tiafoe 2023 Indian Wells shirt and the ADV zip that Musetti and Rune wore to Miami. But they are not the same color! The zip top is much lighter and has more yellow in it.

And in fact the plain Alabaster zip top is closer in color to the Jordan shorts I have in "Coconut Milk" than to the Tiafoe Alabaster top.

So, variations can happen based on materials and can be very noticeable up close.

Atomic green is very similar to cyber.

Just a bit brighter.

Though, not as bright as volt.

They are saying this is Carlos fit for the US open night match.

It's all been downhill since they let Federer go, I agree.
It's true, that's how it is!
Aside from a few unsightly kits, most of the material featured details that typified Federer's style...
I would say to wait for the Alcaraz logo with its more personalized line, which should be better than what we see now; at least with details that will stand out from the others.

I was sort of kidding. They made some stuff in 2022-23 that I thought was awesome. I have five of these shirts for example:

And you call Musetti's kits gay

Obviously you're just looking for attention and everyone has caught on
With the outmost respect I have a question for you: were you around in 1990 when this hot lava kit showed up at Roland Garros? I am asking because that caught my eye and made me think that tennis is as cool as it can be and fell in love with it. For sure Andre made it to the final and thus the outfit looked legit. This look had never happened before on a tennis court, it was truly a revolution.

I was a skater in middle/high school and grew up in the age of ankle socks, so the transition to short shorts and longer socks took me until around 32-33 to complete. But I'm glad I did, for tennis anyway

Compression is key. Outside of my shoes and racquet, compression shorts (or 2-in-1) are the most important thing in my racquet bag

Yeah I was a skater too so I know the look you're referring to!

I agree though, they're becoming a staple for me now, love how they feel.

Yeah I have the green one here :) Really wanted the one Alcaraz wore but it was sold out by the time I looked for it unfortunately.

Heck, I wasn't even born when Andre first started wearing it and I still love it!

Yes I was around for it

Yes I thought it was cool

Yes I owned an original pair of ATC3 and played tennis in them (I was born in 1981)

I don't even mind that Agassi fit, I just think that if that's your idea of masculinity then you have no room to call something else "swishy"

The Alcaraz one is just too loud for me, even the tan/purple one gets a lot of comments when I wear it locally and I feel that is more subdued. When you say green which one do you mean? Two of them have green (and yellow) in them, technically

Yeah it is loud for sure. I think if worn like how Alcaraz did with the black shorts and black sweatband it tones the whole look down a little bit, but yeah, the shirt itself will always be a bit loud. The tan/purple one is probably my favourite, but funnily enough also the one I'd personally least get away with wearing.

I have the primarily green one that Musetti wore from the pics you posted. I have to admit I always go to wear it, look in the mirror, feel a little unsure, put a plain navy or black Nike one on instead and always end up opting for that. I think I actually find this one a little loud for me admittedly, so tend to more so use it as my spare T-shirt that I may swap into if I sweat the other one out. Even then that's only if I have shorts on that go with it :D

It's all about what you pair with it. The green/blue/yellow ones both go with green or blue shorts, and all three of them go with white or khaki or cream shorts. They're actually pretty versatile, i don't have a lot of other shirts that go with green shorts. Just make sure you go with white shoes/socks otherwise yes it will be super loud and goofy.

Notice Alcaraz did this with the yellow one. White socks and shoes, kept the rest of the outfit simple

Yeah I actually wear my green one as Alcaraz did with black shorts, black sweatbands and white socks with plain white shoes. I have the petrol green advantage shorts from last year that I thought would go perfectly but I surprisingly don't really like the look. Those shorts are great though, as they're quite dark so I find they go with pretty much any other neutral colour, just like how navy ones would. If they were a brighter and a more distinct green it would be much more of struggle to match them, then again I wouldn't buy them if they were also!

I was gonna ask you if you remembered who wore those petrol green shorts as I couldn't remember, then it clicked that it was Alcaraz with the same colour top to match. I did like that outfit.

I remember that I really wanted to get the top too but this was all at the time that I think he was still wearing the outfit, and didn't want to look like a fanboy as I was also using a Pure Aero 98 before it wrecked my arm :-D

Petrol green? That is a nice color.

I hear what you're saying about the fanboy stuff. I own a lot of pro shirts but not the shorts and I try to wear the shirts a little differently than they did so I don't feel like I'm just copying them.

But I'll say that I probably wouldn't have bought those shirts without seeing how awesome they looked on Alcaraz and Musetti. Those dudes definitely sold me a couple shirts

Thanks for your kind answer. For me it was a different experience as I was same age as Andre. I have been into shoes many years before that and didn't pay too much attention to apparel as it seemed generic and bland (regular tennis look.) That outfit made my world stop. I realized even apparel can be cool. It is one of the reasons I am an industrial designer for more than 26 years.

Will there be any Vapor 12s with his name, signature, or logo on it?
Hi d-....I don't know..
Let's wait and see; at the moment there is no news or photos of the alcaraz logo.
The Sinner logo is there, but it is only on the caps of its staff

What almost all of us have been saying for some time (some more or less)..
THE INTERNET (5 crazies on internet tennis forums) EXPLODED!!!!!!!

If the shoes are wild it’s nice to have clean and simple tops. A black tank is easier to sell to “people just looking for a tank” than a pink or splattered one as well

Get a grip lmao

People really want it both ways

I see so much complaining that there aren't enough simple designs in Nike's portfolio, but then they give us a simple design and people complain it's not exciting enough. I really just don't get it

Why do people skip over the Victory and Heritage line when it comes to simple? That seems to be their go-to basics/simple line. They even have a "Core" line... I think the Advantage line, not the print ones, are pretty simple for the most part too this fall.

I think this honestly shows how and why marketing still works... the "top"/pro lines are what people are complaining about, but the "lower" lines have what they are complaining is supposedly missing. Unless people really just care about what the pros are wearing specifically?

True....But it would be preferable to have a slightly different design that also diversifies Sinner n.1.....The fact that Alcaraz will adopt a different uniform from the others is still positive (even Nadal) :)

Exactly

They want the pro line stuff to look exactly how they want it. Whether that's the 1990 Challenge, the Rush'n'Crush Rafa top, some red/black Federer crew from 2005, they're just never happy unless Nike retros exactly what they want.

So it's always one or the other. Too wild, too swishy, I'll look like a wanker pulling up to the courts in this...or it's too subdued, not snazzy enough to justify the price. It's exhausting to listen to

However, I stand corrected; in the Nike us open collection there are different lines, so it is possible that the same ones are worn by different athletes....

Sinner wasn’t #1 when all this was designed.

Alcaraz was and he probably provided input and wanted the predominantly black tank. Good for him

Yeah it’s really nice, they were probably my favourite advantage shorts from last year.

Oh yeah I’m the same. If I bought both I’d probably just wear them with other items rather than together.

Definitely agree there though. I think Alcaraz is similar to Nadal in that maybe because of his build, he can make a lot of outfits look quite good. I think off the top of my head, the only ones I haven’t liked were the pink top with the cream shorts, the red shirt with the blue shirts (where I think he had that much repeated point against Norrie) and the strange combination that was that lime green top, white shorts and orange shoes that he wore at the ATP masters finals.

Is there more to the guide other than sign up for SNKRS and pray, or buy resale after that?
Yes. There is a lot more to this guide than that. :)

I'll just say this much about it.

If you want to know how to predict when these shoes will be back on the market. Meaning brought back for another retro. And how that process works. Then this guide is for you. One hundred percent!

Imagine that you're 13 years old in 1989. You're watching the WTF and you see this match between Andre Agassi and Stefan Edberg.

Andre walks out to the court, debuting his new outfit. He takes off his warm up pants and the girls start screaming, like they're watching the Beatles on Ed Sullivan in 1964.

Do you honestly believe that any teenager is going to be looking at that outfit, after hearing the girls screaming, and say to themselves "You know what, that sucks."

Hell no!

The girls validated the outfit. It's certifiably cool now.
