How did you know which shoe was most stable without playing in it?

smiley_emoticons_santagrin.gif
Just by feel and the material supporting my foot. There's a lot of shoe to the cage 4. It hugs your foot like an old Barricade.

Really nice color for this one!

But I'm curious to see if some players could compare it to the Resolution 7 or 8... The R7 is by far the best shoe I ever played with.

Anyone tried them yet?

the weight seems so high:confused:

I’ve tried them and love them. Reminds me of the old ballistec line. Yes the weight is a bit high but I feel the added support and stability actually helps in moving. Loved the old ballistic line and I think this is going to be my new shoe of choice. In my size they are about 2 ounces per shoe heavier than the zoom zero, my current shoe of choice. But when you compare that to the weight of a human that is a minuscule difference. Feel like I move well in them, and that is what is important. They do run a little warm but it is manageable.

Wow. I wear 11 in cage 3. And 10.5 in zoom zero. Should i go for 10 or 10.5 in cage 4? I was thinking 10.5 but...

Try them on if you can, but I would suggest ordering one in your normal size and one 1/2 size down and sending back whichever one doesn’t fit.

I went down 0.5 from vapor X...
Couldn‘t play yet, but from walking around at home, it seems like they lack in heel lock. Even though I really tried to tie them thight, I‘m slipping out/ moving up about 1cm when walking...

So these run a half size large?

Depends. I have a medium foot and my regular size fit well. I'm trying a half size down but the additional pressure the upper creates is putting a lot strain on my arches. I'm hoping the upper loosens enough that I can feel good about the overall fit but the I'm still having the heel slippage issue. Also, my toes are just short of being cramped. Again, I'm hoping that the upper will loosen and give my toes a bit more room to relax.

I tried them on yesterday - those shoes are definitely on the sturdier and heavier side. The ride is quite high (too high for my liking) and the lacing system was not my cup of tea. I thought that it did not allow me to really get a secure fit (laterally unstable). I had not heel slippage issues and they felt generally comfortable. Although quite warm, which is not surprising given that they are build like a tank.

Tried them on today as well. My one foot definitely is sitting better 1/2 a size down. Feels like a completely different shoe however. The sole feels more narrow when weight is shifted around... tough to get a gauge running around in the store though. I didn't notice much of a weight difference when on the foot... Such a sexy colorway, might wait for the price to drop.

They are beautiful shoes. But, the outer part of the collar gouges my foot. And they are definitely clunky. Someone made a good comparison with Barricades. If that is your thing, great. But, when I put on the Zoom Cage 3s, they are so low profile and light compared to these. Nike must essentially make the same shoe for Rafa every time with cosmetic changes, because there is no way he would go through this kind of variation once he found a shoe he prefers.

I agree, I would have liked something like Rafa's shoe. The same upper as the 4s but having kept the 3s outsole — too far of a departure with this iteration. But again, I haven't tried it on court, that could be a different story.

Got my pair yesterday and drilled for 30 minutes then played a doubles match. They’re similar to the Court FF2 for me. A little more substantial under the forefoot but still responsive. A hair lower (not narrower) in the toe-box in the same size. I have a low-volume foot, so that’s fine, and the one hot spot seemed to have broken in by the end of the session. Traction does what I want it to—sliding when I want and stopping when I want. Cushion good throughout. Stability felt like some of the older Ballistec models where they were a little tank-like, but these are more flexible underfoot and through the upper. They ran a bit hot, but otherwise no complaints. The durability guarantee puts them above the court FF2–which was my favorite shoe—for me because they’re pretty similar in stability, traction, and responsiveness just with slightly higher cushioning and mildly stickier traction.

Love them, generally and way better than the cage 3 which I thought was a great shoe for me.

Hi, what size do you use in the Cage 3 and now with the Cage 4? Thanks

I just got a pair and I don’t like the lacing system, maybe I ordered the wrong size be there is some slippage. I will sell them for $90 if anyone is interested. They are size 10.5 in the white and yellow.

I ordered a pair from Nike, I tried them on at home and the eyelet broke. Took them to back to the Nike store and got a refund. Really disappointed that I couldn’t use them on the courts. I didn’t even want to bother with another pair. I had the same issue with the Zoom Zeroes. The lacing system on both are on the delicate side. Fear not, because I ordered two pairs of Nike Air Zoom Vapor Knits from TennisWarehouse Europe. The shipping is a bit more, but their prices are much better.

I like the look of Nike shoes but the real quality is with Asics. That's for sure!

What tipped you to these versus the zoom zeros? They seem like such different shoes. Did you want a stiffer, more responsive cushion and a wider fitting shoe?

So is the recommended size compared to the Cage 3 to buy a half size down? I'm down to my last pair of tennis shoes (Cage 3) so I wouldn't mind getting a second pair.

Are you taking about the ZC4 or 3s? I went with my TTS (10.5) with the ZC4 but I might go half a size down since it’s generous in length. As for the ZC3s I went half a size up.

Definitely go down ½ size. These shoes are SO comfortable both under foot (more cushioning than I anticipated) and around the foot (which is more important to me). Mine were exactly 15 oz (size 9.5) and Nike has done an amazing job of "hiding" the weight. Top notch shoes.

Most people I know went up a half size from their normal shoe size in the Cage 3s. If you're coming from the Cage 3s, the general recommendation would be come down a full size in the Vapor Cage 4 if you went up a half size in the Cage 3. Otherwise, go a half size down.
