Nike Breathe Cage II = real GOAT

Nadal's performance peaked when he play with Cage II (in 2008 and early 2009). Case in point:
o Achieved career-best 32 winning streaks
o Won French Open without any knee problem
o Won the epic Wimbledon against none-other-than Federer
o Reached semi-final at the US Open
o Won Gold Medal in single at the Beijing Olympic Games
o Won his first AO
Granted Nadal had some knee problems then, the injury was exacerbated with (IMO) CB1.3

Del Potro won his first Slam (2009 US Open), again, wearing Cage II.
Once he switched to Breathe Free 2k10, he experienced foot/knee problem.

You'll see so many pros still going for Cage II... I don't know why Nike continues with new colorways (Nadal's AO day and night versions).

Cage II is 1) light, 2) good-looking, and 3) fits comfortable. The only drawback is durability.
CB 1.3 is heavy, ugly, and offers zero breathability.

I'm stocking up more Cage II before vendors run out of stock...

No, according to this The goat is the Vapor Speed. Federer got a 94-6 record the year he wore it in 2006. Federer also wore the shoe in 2005 and with this same shoe won 6 slams (Nadal won two with Cage II). In Fact, Federer had an 83-4 record in 2005 and also many streaks during his peaks of the 2005-06 year.

Good point, Volleynets. :)
Well, Nadal did win 3 with BC II (French, Wimby, AO in 2009)... :)
Also, we should also put Olympic there as another "major".

I agree Vapor Speed generated more Slam wins and winning record.
Then, that was more to Federer's credit... :)

I think BC II was (and still is) more widely used by so many other pros (Blake, Potro, Mofils, Isner...).

Why are you comparing against the discontinued 1.3?

Cage II were terrible for me, too narrow.

You need to try CB 2.3, the true GSOAT.

Whatever works, glad you like the BCII.

Lots of people wear them, they definitely don't suck, just too narrow for the wide bony footed freaks like me.

I guess I should've made this argument before CB 2.3 came out. Then I could have really lashed it out on CB 1.3. :)

Still, I would reserve "GOAT" status until someone win some major on them. Nadal did forfeit from AO, and I'm reluctant to switch from BC II just yet...

CB 2.3 a major improvement from 1.3, but they're still heavier than BC II. And BC II still rocks in breathability department. :)

Whatever floats your goat dude.

:)

Roger's custom Vapors are probably the true goat.

Too bad we can't buy them retail.

yah, the breath cage 2 dragon are awesome in all areas. Not the best durability but I have the 6 month guarantee so I should be good to go there when I figure that out.

You've mentioned this before in other threads and for the life of me I can't figure out why they don't fit for you. My feet are wide in the forefoot and toe area. Cage II's are one of the ONLY shoes I can wear in 10.5 because they're wide enough. I had to go to a size 12 just to find enough room in the toe box for Vapor VI and 11.5 for CB 1.3 (I know you just posted 2.3).

I know, I know, different sweet for different feet. Just surprised being that you have a wide foot.

I dont see why you attributing its GOAT status to the number of pros that use it and their records while using the shoe. Top players usually have a custom mold, so it has different shape, arch support, etc. They can also have other variations, so it seems kinda silly to say that. I think you should judge what is the GSOAT according to your own foot specs and needs. Even if a shoe is considered a GSOAT, it may not fit your feet well or not to your preference.

I just wanted to say that. I have nothing against you or anything.

I wear a 10.5 too. The outer bone on my right foot rubs hard with the BCII.

Its a grerat looking shoe.

Luckily they have a warranty so I will wear them down on the backboard for a few months and send them in for voucher. All good!

What I really don't understand is how Nike would not make BC II in colorways that Nadal wore in his AO 2009 campaign.
The white/neon, as well as the black/neon, were the coolest shoes, yet they continued bringing out generic colorways. :(

We all have our GOAT shoes for our own feet, and for me, BC II definitely does it for me.

I wish I could post the pics of my BC II collection here... :)

The reason they didn't is because those were supposed to be the ballistecs but Nadal did not wear them. I had the cage two in the Obsidian/blue and the white/grey/blue which were my two favorite colorways in that shoe besides the awesome ones Nadal had at the Olympics which were not available in the US.

I seem to be the only one not bothered by the weight of the Ballistecs though. Maybe most people did not go to a smaller size with it like you are supposed to? When I tried them in the same size as my cage II then I felt their weight and the heel almost sagged when I walked in them. Going down a size made them fit me better than cageII. must be the shape of my feet.

You're absolutely right. Those Olympic Cage II were awesome! red/white combo, I believe...

Again, if they release white/neon and black/neon in BC II, they would've sold very well around the globe. Granted Nadal was supposed to have won AO 2009 in CB 1.3, he did wear BC II that looked awesome and therefore Nike should've released them. :???:
