Nike Cage 3

Nike only had air in their tennis shoes for what 30 years. It was hardly panned.

& 20 years ago all they had was EVA & Polyurethane. Time moves forward. What was considered great 10 years ago is old technology today. There is a reason that Zoom Air is in every Nike shoe today & Max Air is not or Boost is in many of the top end Adidas vs Adiprene, etc.

Now all they need to do is include it in the forefoot as well as keep it in the rearfoot. They have shown they can do it in the Zoom Ultras.

Nike started using phylon as the midsole for some tennis shoes 25 years ago starting with OG 1992 Nike air tech huarache. Zoom tech is still incapsulated in phylon to this day.

My son has just tried his new cage 3s.. have to return. He wears size 12.5 cage 2. Got size 13 cage 3. Hurt his foot just trying it on. Too tight.

He is still rotating 3 pairs of cage 2s. And 2 pairs of cage 2 clay. This will last 3 months more. 6 days a week tennis. Tournaments. Etc... hard on shoes. I have 3 nike vouchers. And will get 3 more when these soles wear out on the hard court c2s. Not sure what I am going to do about shoes for him. Why did they change the only performance tennis shoe that is wider???

the cage 2 is still available ..and i assume will start to get cheaper... and your boy has a large foot and those sizes tend to linger on the shelves. buy 20 pairs and wait for the next shoe to come to light. nike or another company will fill the void for us wide guys.

Saw a Cage 3 version for US Open. Bull logo on the tongue, RAFA at the heel and years he won the open. Upper is fade gray similar to what's currently available. Midsole and outsole is punch/red..

Such a shame they did not work for me. Sounds like an awesome color.

Is the toe box more durable on the Cage 3s? I read in one of the posts that there was some change to the upper. Son loved the original Max Cage. However, when Nike came out with the Cage 2s, son would wear out the shoe in the toe before the soles wore out. This summer son bought 3 pairs of Cage 2s at a NIke Outlet for$40 ea. Two had holes in the toe after 3 weeks. He switched to Barricades after that and has the 3rd pair set aside. I have told son to duck tape the holey toe pairs and wear to practice to wear the soles out so we can get warrantee voucher, but he has been wearing Barricades instead that I got him for tournaments. Will son go up 1 or 2 sizes with Cage 3 as he has slightly wide foot? At least if the Cage 3s don't work, he can use vouchers when he gets them for other NIke apparel. His college has Adidas this year but switches to Nike for 18/19 so I hope he can figure out a durable not-too-narrow shoe before then. When will the Air Cage 3s be available in local retail stores?

Here in the Atlanta area, most retailers have had them for at least 3 weeks. I was able to try them on and my normal size was definitely more of a snug fit than the Cage 2s. I struggled quite a bit to even get my foot into the shoe at my normal size. I went up a half size and the ease of entry into the show was better as well as the fit around my toes, but as someone else mentioned, I struggled to lock in my heel..even using the additional eyelets.

Fellow Atlantan here-were they at Serious Tennis or Your Serve? Will send son when he returns from tourneys to store to try on before he uses a Nike voucher for something that won't fit. He could always buy more shorts instead or running shoes. I think he has left several Nike items at various hotels this summer...His college is supposed to supply his shoes, but when he wears them out in 3-6 weeks might be nice for him to have a few voucher pairs available. Dont know if the coach keeps a stockpile of shoes or just orders as needed. At home, we always try to have 2 extra pairs. He has the bright Miami Open barricades from over a year ago that we bought on sale that he hardly wears except on clay, but they may have to be his backup shoe. Do shoes wear less on indoor courts? Son hardly ever plays indoor in Atlanta, but chose a university that plays most matches indoors so maybe his shoes will last longer.

Your Serve has them. They had all three current colorways available. All the indoor hard courts I've played on were the same as their outdoor counterparts. The only difference is being indoors. His shoes will probably get the same level of wear and tear.

But will Nadal, in Montreal, play with this version of the Cage 3 (white - yellow - blue)?
Why this coloration has not been present at the sites until now?

i wear a 10 in the cage 2. perfect fit for me in length and width. tried a 10, 10.5, 11 and 11.5 and my only option was the 11. I have a high instep and the bootie was just as bothersome as the more narrow format of this new shoe. I wear a 10.5 with the Lunar Ballistec if that gives any further help.

He's actually now practicing with Lunar Ballistecs, white/blue color scheme from what I can deduct from a few low quality pics.

Thanks, that is helpful - they sound even narrower than I was thinking - and most likely not an option. I'll try em on soon and report back.

Finally tried on a pair of these. As others have said, I think they run small (probably more short than narrow). But surprisingly they fit my foot really well once I went up a size. Most tennis shoes are too long/not wide enough for me. So if I size up to get the right width they fell like clown shoes. But the cages felt great in a size up. Upper seemed really comfortable to me. Looking forward to some better colors. I think the current lineup is pretty weak - and they should've done a lot better for the new model launch.

I have been using the cage 2 since they came out I had some trouble with my first pair because I used my usual size 10 but once I changed to a 9.5 they are perfect after a little breaking in Now a tried the Cage 3 and cannot find a size that fits right they just seem so narrow even though I have an average width foot. I am now trying to stock up on the Cage 2's before its too late to find any. I may have to leave nike once I run out I don't like the changes they have been making

Tried them in my normal 9, now am curious about sizing up. My experience in my normal size was terrible, but wondering if sizing up .5 size would make all the difference in the world. With Nike's generous return policy, may have to give them another try. The concept seems right in my wheelhouse.
