nearly most versions of Vapors are like that, when they are released, everyone disliked it and said it was way worse than the previous version. Once that version discontinued, and couple with the fact that some pros (like Alcaraz) are still wearing, suddenly everyone asking for that old version again
It's actually a Vapor in terms of weight. VP2 and V11 are just cinderblocks in comparison. Having those plastic edges on the sides also allows for better lateral cutbacks, something that feels incredibly awful in the VP2s.

100% agree though if the shoes were sligtly wider that would be amazing. Sometimes it can be annoying with that clip.

not neccesarily. no one ever clamoured for the vapor 3, 7, or 8 to be re-released. All of those were bad shoes and didnt have any endorsement juice
the icons remain: vapor speed, vapor IV/V (same shoe pretty much), vapor 9/9.5, and vapor X

Agree partly with your views apart from Vapor X which when they were released, everyone dislikes it, at least in this forum, and said it was way worse than 9/9.5

That’s fair. Tbh it is still a worse shoe than the 9/9.5 & then the VP1 was indeed worse than the X. So there’s been reason in the last 3-4 gens to clamor for a return to the earlier designs. It’s not just a blanket “the old gen is always better” mindset. I think the flyknit 9.5 will always be the best vapor, probably just my own bias though. The vapor X/VP1 midsole is sooooooo thin, even if the X upper was the best, the midsole felt like a compressed 9/9.5

My guess is that it is j_d b/c they were having the exact same conversation at Nike Talk. I will say that I just ordered 2 pairs from a 3rd party site that I've used for Vapor Pro 1s previously after not really meshing well w/ the Vapor 12s. We'll see how dry the well is.

I posted this in the Hypersmash thresd but will post here too.
If you loved the Vapor Pro (the original) you are better off with the Hypersmash than the Vapor 12.
Here's why, Vapor Pro was lightweight, mostly mesh upper with traditional lacing (no outrigger or adapt fit), partial slipper tongue, plastic shank, and thats about it.
This is nearly exactly like the Hypersmash except it has the fake leather, thicker tongue, and symmetric lacing.
The latter two are improvements over the Vapor Pro for me. The thicker tongue is great, I got lace bite with the thin neoprene tongue of the VP1, and the asymmetric lacing seemed like a trendy gimmick.
That's my nickels worth of opinions.
If you love the VP1 you should skip the Vapor 12 and stock up on the Hypersmash.
If you loved the Vapor Pro (the original) you are better off with the Hypersmash than the Vapor 12.
