Nike Court Air Zoom Vapor Pro 2021

Has anyone played with the "carpet" version of this shoe? I mostly play on hardcourt but what surface would this sole be used on, surely not clay or grass?

*For some reason I can't attach a pic but they're a smooth sole with virtually no texture. It's on the NDC uk site HERE

Could someone experienced with these shoes give me some sizing advice? I have a low-volume, flat foot, and I'm prone to heel slip and sliding around in shoes. The Vapor X (and 9.5) in a size 10 was perfect for me -- it was narrow in the midfoot for the first couple of matches, then broke in to grip me perfectly, with no slipping whatsoever. I've tried on the Vapor Pro in both a 10 and a 9.5. The 10 feels very comfortable walking around my living room, more comfortable than the Vapor X out of the box, but I'm conscious of the extra space up front and worried that when it breaks in it will be too roomy. The 9.5 feels tight in the midfoot the same way the Vapor X does in a 10, but also tight in the toe box. I'm worried that I'll end up jamming my toes if I go with that one. Both of them have a little bit of heel slip that makes me nervous, too, but I hope it would go away in break in.

So -- how much does this thing open up after playing with it for a while, and where? Do I go with the one that's kinda tight, or the one that's almost a little loose?

I also wore a 10 in the Vapor 9.5s, X, and X Knits. I have four pairs of the Pros in size 10 and no issues. Would say they just barely loosen up, but not enough as to create slippage or a lack of confidence when I'm moving.

I sized up .5 to 11.5 because I double sock when I play. The pair I have are from May 2021 and after 7 months of use 80% of the time I play they still feel somewhat snug in the toe box for a while when I FIRST put them on. They are comfortable and after a few minutes it's not so "tight" anymore but they've retained their original shape mostly. That's to say that for all the loosening that's certainly happened to them it's not really in the toebox. I can wear a single sock with them too and it doesn't feel like my feet are swimming in there. My arch is high so my biggest gripe with footwear is the fit on the top or throat. These were tight out the box up there and the laces were too short. If I use all the eyelets I can only realistically tie them using one bunny ear instead of two. Overall the shoe is pretty broken in but it hasn't necessarily expanded much even after all the use, it'll just soften up some if that makes sense - it'll feel broken in more so than slacky. I'd say regrdless what size you go with whatever space you feel between the tips of your toes and the end of the shoe isn't going to increase much if at all. Certainly not enough to jam or hurt yourself.

i tried on a pair of VPs, it was the same size as my Vapor Xs. the fit was pretty good, but the lateral support didnt feel the same as the Xs.
my Xs are at least 6 moonths old and on their last legs. the VPs are definitely lighter and i would be speedier on the court, but thats not a problem for me anyway. just hope the stability is as good.
i didnt play in them yet.

How does the sizing compare to Asics court ff 2? I wear a size 9 in those.. the cheaper price is tempting me to try it out.

I'd compare the Vapor Pro to the Solution Speeds. The Court FF2 has more cushioning and is a generally beefier shoe.

Sizing wise, I wear 9.5 in both Court FF2 and the Vapor Pro.

Size question: I wore Air Oscillates for ever in a size 10, and when my last pair went, I switched to Vapor X's, and had to go up a size to 10.5. With the Vapor Pro's, it's very hard to find a place near me to try shoes on. Did anyone else shift sizes moving from Vapor X to Vapor Pro?

Well, I'll chime in to thank Zinge and FuzzyDunlop and then try to answer TravelBuddha's question. Z and FD, I appreciate the advice to stick with the Vapor X size. Unfortunately, it didn't quite work out for me. I took the same size as my Vapor X's out on the court, and there was definitely more volume to the shoe. I have a very low arch and low-volume foot, so I need a snug, adjustable fit, and the Vapor Pro couldn't do it. I was sliding around in the shoe and could never get comfortable. It did seem to mold to my foot a bit as I played, so the situation improved after a couple of matches, but not to the point I was comfortable sticking with it. Luckily, I ordered from a place that will take returns even if they're used. I also tried on a half-size down from my Vapor Xs, and they were pretty tight on the toes. I think they might have broken in and worked if I had gone with them, but I didn't want to take the chance. I'm going to try to find a different shoe after many happy pairs of Vapors.

So, TravelBuddha -- if you have a low-volume foot, and heel slip or sliding in a shoe are often problems for you, then I would consider sizing down in the Vapor Pro. If you have a thicker foot and a high instep, I would stick with the same size, and you'll probably be very happy. Either way, order from somewhere with a good return policy.

Thanks for the info. I managed to find both sizes at a local shop. The 10 fits much better. I don't know what it was about the Vapor X, but the feel I got from the Vapor Pro's reminded me a lot of the Oscillate.

Finally got the Vapor Pros, they look awesome although i am not sure about this asymmetric lacing setup, these shoes feel much lighter than my Vapor Xs.
the fit is snug and wraps around my foot pretty good, but the lateral support is much different than the Vapor Xs
not saying its not as good, only saying its a much different
they feel like my Air Pegasus running shoes.
i will walk around inside a bit before i take them out on the court.

man they are really pushing clean look on these.. they all are white (mostly) with swoosh different colors... I loved that summer Olympics one but it never got released to mortals... they need to do some crazy color combos on these... love the vapors.

well i played a couple of low key sets today in the vapor pros.
pleasantly surprised how well they performed.
i was able to change direction without any heel slipping as the shoes felt really good.
even though the vapor pro soles and lateral support seemed lighter than the vapor Xs, and the shoe tongue is a lot thinner
i had no issues.
looks like i will pick up a couple of more pairs of the vapor pros, as these will be
my go to shoes once the vapor Xs are done
btw i take a size 9.5 in the vapor pros, the exact same size as my vapor Xs.

Did you also find them to run long?

The original Yonex power cushion pro from 2014 was an amazing shoe and was a good fit for my wide feet. But every Yonex I have tried since then has run too narrow for me.

I'm hoping that changes with the Power Cushion Eclipsion 4.

If I could, I would not be harassing you with these annoying questions. Not sold in Canada and if it doesn't fit I have to pay international shipping both ways :(

Go with the GP Turbos mate. Nike stores should be prevalent in Canada. You can go in personally and dial-in the size with no guesswork.

The GP in size 12 was too squishy vertically (push down on toes from the top) and the 12.5 had heel slippage :(

I am absolutely convinced that this is the only shoe for me, I have really enjoyed playing in this shoe, it continues to do everything right. I am on second rotation of the Vapor Pros, I had two pair in rotation for most of 2021. I still have them, the soles are done but the they can still be worn casually. Now I'm rotating another two pair for the upcoming season. I just ordered these to have on standby because of the supply chain shortage. Let me rephrase that, I ordered these because the colors are amazing and you can never have enough gear! :p

Is nike so cheap they've cometely abandoned any interesting colorway on the Vapor Pro?
When you look at the Vapor X they were so consistently interesting from season to season.

Interesting that you might say that. I am so glad that Nike are finally going back to a more clean looking shoe. It very much reminds me of the "glory days" from 2004-2009, when the Vapor was at its best. The last couple of years were shocking to say the least colourwise, with funky colours that just didn't match at all. I hope we don't see that again for the next 10 years

I don't mind a clean design, my last pair of Vapor X's I am using are the all white with the blue stripes near the top and red outsole.
I just feel like this current batch isn't clean it's just bland
Different tastes, I suppose
