Nike Court Zoom NXT

Foot Doctor Zach mentioned that it’s not an ideal shoe if you have heel issues. I also wonder whether the zoom court NXT has comparable cushioning to the GP Turbos and a secure heel. I may have to stock up on the GP Turbos. It took a while to break into the GP Turbos but they are really comfy and have fantastic cushioning.

Nono i meant how is the heel slippage in the Zoom nxt COMAPRED TO the Vapor X
No heel slippage in the Zoom NXT. Just played in them. No break-in needed.

So I'm guessing you prefer the gp turbo over the zoom court nxt? Cushioning nowhere close to the turbo? how is the weight?

I loved the cushion and bounce of the gp turbo but they were narrow and one of the air pockets exploded on me on my second pair. so ive been gunshy. but the cushioning was unbelievable.
Yes. I just got off court with my first impressions. I feel like this pair is defective or something. There's absolutely no bounce in the forefoot. I've actually had multiple airbags explode in the Zoom Zeros, but not in the GPs. This just feels deflated from the first step. But the forefoot is wider and roomier for sure.

I'd suggest you stock up on GPs. I just ordered a sale pair. The NXTs are going back.

For those curious about the weight...

US Men's Size 10 GP Turbo: 15.6 oz
US Men's Size 10 Zoom NXT: 14.9 oz
US Men's Size 9.5 Zoom NXT: 14.4 oz

Size for size (10 GP to 10 ZNXT), there's a 0.7 oz difference. In reality, because I'm a 10 in GP Turbo and a 9.5 in ZNXT, it's a 1.2 oz change.

Never a good sign when you are wondering if your shoes are defective... Will wait for others to weigh in but I'm not as excited about getting my pair anymore lol.

I received a pair of the Zoom NXTs yesterday. I haven't played in them yet but I can understand why there would be zero break-in period. The upper is structured but VERY flexible. While the Vapor NXT took me months of play to finally get the shoes fitting and flexing to where I felt comfortable, these seem like they are going to be the complete opposite.

The fit is plenty roomy. I dare even say too roomy in my normal US men's 9. While I like the out of the box fit in the width--no crushing/pinching--I have concerns that the upper will stretch out over time making the fit a bit too loose in width. Also, there's a bit more gap between my big toe and the front of the shoe than I like.

For those that like the detached tongue, I was mistaken in my early assessment based renderings. This a booty style tongue as well BUT the attachment point makes for easy on and off with these shoes. I'm going to play around with my custom insoles to change the fit before I give a more detailed evaluation.

I've played hard in them twice now. I agree there is no break-in required. I also agree that they seem a bit too roomy in the toe-box. I have had heel issues and there is virtually no cushion in the heel. I was also hoping they'd feel lighter than they weigh-in but they don't. I wore my normal show size in these where as I size down half size in the zoom vapor nxt. I'm going back to the vapor nxt for the responsive push-off and more stable feel surrounding my foot. I had hopes for these but not the one for me. I miss the zoom vapor 9.5s.

Nope! Hehe. And just to be sure, I tried on the size 10 in my order as well. Same footbed feel. So whatever Zoom air is there, it's not doing its job.

*sigh* Was hoping this would truly be a lighter GP Turbo. Turns out it's something like a Vapor Pro with a higher heel.

Just got mine from Nike and started an exchange for 1/2 size down. Sizing all over the place with Nike the last few years. Turbos short, cages and vapors seem a smidge long. Maybe my feet are already shrinking.

can’t get a real feel for them when they’re too big so did an exchange. Have a 60 day test drive anyway.

I got my pair today and I had nearly exactly the same response. I am concerned about fit and lockdown in this design. I am going to do the same - play around with insoles and 2 pairs of socks. One thing for sure, these are not the Zoom Zero or GP Turbo. I am not saying it is a "bad shoe", it is just completely different. I will reserve judgement for the time being.

The Zoom NXT does not have the oddly shaped GP Turbo toe box, and that is very nice.

Perhaps more stable than the Vapor Pro with the Flyplate in there? It felt pretty stable.

I think this shoe has more in common with the Jordon 34 basketball shoe than the GP Turbo, to be honest.

Will they launch with a clay sole version do you know?

I wonder if they'll have a full length "shank" like the GP Turbos too.
These are definitely hardcourt shoes. They never released a clay version of the Zoom Zero or the GP Turbo and I would bet they will not release one for the Zoom NXT - especially with the hole in that midsole.

There is a clay version of the turbo, I‘ve 2 pairs.
And I’m pretty sure that there was a clay version of the Zoom zero too…

Get the same size as your Cage 4s.

I wear a size 10 in the Cage 4s since they run big in the toe box.

I'm a 10.5 in gp turbo, 10.5 in Vapor X, 10 in vapor pro, and ended up going 9.5 in Vapor Cage 4. Should I go 10 in these...? thx in advance.
Did you also feel the same with either of the Court FF1, GRes8, SoleCourt Boost, Cage 4, or BluShield 5?

Jesus! Nike have to put sizing variances to an end... Have to go even full size down from one shoe from another in the same brand is quite bad

Yes! nike has been all over the place. Plus i have narrow heels. & i have one foot that is longer than the other. I have to get creative with sock layers because im very ocd about having a secure, locked-in comfortable fit. Good thing for Talk Tennis! Tennis warehouse labels the Cage 4 as "generous". No guys, those things run huge lol.

Playtest review from Zach is out

Seems to be overwhelmingly positive with a slight caveat on the heel support/comfort
He even say is close to the ZC3 without the cushioning under the heel... And If I remember correctly the ZC3 had mixed reviews when those dropped

I have long narrow feet, my forefoot is normal sized and the back of my foot is narrow, basically my feet look like slices of cheesecake. Currently the vapor NXT fits me best.

Do you mean the React Vapor NXT? I thought that shoe fit on the wider side.

Wow, I feel like you have the exact same feet as me. Do you have one shoe you like the best? I found that the Vapor X locked me in better than anything else I've tried.

Sizing differences between 10 and 10.5 is super odd.

10.5 is incredibly long but has a correct regular forefoot width.

10 is a good length, but now it feels more like a medium-narrow width. I also noticed that there is a lack of heel lockdown compared to the Cage 4s. I wish they added additional eyelets (like runner’s shoes) in the shoe to help secure your foot down, which I might do myself.

Will be playing in them tonight, so I will let you guys know how it goes.

Managed to get a hitting session tonight. First thing, the shoes need to broken in. It feels stiff in the arch area which makes sense looking at the shoe. I appreciated the heel lift as it forces you to be on the balls of your feet. The weight of the shoe feels very balanced, did not notice the weight while playing. One annoying thing I noticed was the material on the medial side of the shoe near the eyelet(see picture) jabs at your ankle when you are in a wide stance. Not sure if it will break in after some more court time. Interestingly enough, I did not notice heel slippage while playing compared to when I was trying them on at home.

Currently, I still like the Zoom Vapor Cage 4 better. Nike Vapor 9/9.5 Tour are still #1 in my opinion if they ever re-release them.

TLDR;
Pros

  • Good traction
  • Even weight distribution throughout foot
  • Good heel-toe drop
  • Breathable

Cons
  • Top eyelet jabbing at ankle
  • Fits medium narrow feet
  • Needs to be broken in
  • Not as cushiony as you may think
