Just had the curse everyone else had. After wearing these on the weekend the shoe lace lip nearest to the top end of the shoe snapped off as i just tied my laces.....

well **** this is a bit sad :(
Too bad so many are experiencing this. I think they’re great shoes but hard to trust those lace eyelets.

the truth. these shoes feel amazing for me (one of the few that couldnt mesh with the GP turbo)
Yeah likewise. Might give the lapis one a try at the 20% off price. The manufacturer took care of my 2nd paid when the lace eyelet popped after first wear.

Has anyone with the popped eyelets had that problem on older Nike shows before?

I forget which models… whether breathe frees of court ballistics, but many models back that would happen. It was annoying and frequent enough to matter but not frequent enough to actually be a real problem.

curious if anyone might be able to compare.

It’s the CB 4.3 to be exact and still wearing mine despite one of the eyelids holes ripped..not the most comfy shoe, but built like a tank. Going to go through my last pair of Lunar Ballistecs 1.5 then switch over to the NXTs. Wish Nike would drop the ZVC4 and add the 6m warranty to this model instead.

Y’all got me nervous about the eyelet thing. I have two pairs but so far no issues. And I cinch them up pretty snug.

I’ve had 3 pairs and only one had the eyelet issue. Admittedly haven’t worn my black pair a ton because it’s been a super hot summer this year. Might take a flyer on the lapis ones for 20% off.

I literally owned black tennis shoes just twice in my life and that was enough for me. Literally can change the temperature by 5°C sometimes. Never again

I’m planning on getting the blue pair when they’re available, too.

Didn‘t happen to me, I even cut half of the top above the eyelet off because it gave me a nasty, bloody blister. Still wearing them without any broken eyelet…

Comparing them to GP Turbo colourways this is a moment where a word ugly doesn’t say what I feel :-D I’m not in shock Osaka didn’t want to wear them.

That’s a nice get. I’m really befuddled by why I don’t see more Nike pros wearing these. The fit and comfort is the best of all the current Nikes, for me. But it seems they either wear the Vapor Pros or the older Vapor 9/9.5 or Xs. I did notice Emma Rads wearing the upcoming new Vapor shoes at Citi.

I guess it’s because they are not that low to the ground as Vapors. Not that fast and responsive.

Hello all,

after the shoes were relatively cheap, I bought them. Super comfortable when first put on and when walking. Also that they turn out a little larger, I find with thick Thorlos and possibly other soles rather good.

Without new insole they were when sprinting, etc. on the clay court quite hard; at the heel already what board-like. Therefore, they are stable. In the end, my feet hurt a bit, also because of an Achilles tendon injury,

I wear the shoes in the future with a soft insole.

I also find them quite hard so won't be playing tennis in them. Compared to something like Court FF2 it seems Asics is like 200 years in front of Nike in terms of technology, comfort etc.

It's kind of funny that you mention the FF2, because that's exactly what I've been wearing consistently.
I think there are also player types for the Court Zoom NXT. The FF2 has too much material over the foot for me, for example. I feel a bit caged when wearing them. Even if it is a great shoe.

For those who don't mind the hard and wide sole, the Nike also has the advantage that the foot hits the ground pretty straight. That can also have its advantages.

The fun color for the open drew me back in but I’m keeping a pair of resolutions in my bag in case the lace holder breaks and I feel weird doing so.

Yes, the absence of over-engineered rubbers and plastics are one of the Court Zoom NXT's greatest assets. Ironically, I have enjoyed better durability out of these (5+ months with no issues, almost no tread wear, and great comfort still) than I did out of the Asics GR8, despite the Asics looking like a battle tank in comparison. I've had no issues with the NXT eyelets either, and I wear thick Thorlo socks every time I play.

I play on synthetic grass and synthetic clay (en-tout-cas) much more often than I do on hard court, so that's an important caveat.

I think Nike made a really great shoe here, but it's evidently well suited to some feet and not others — look elsewhere if you place a premium on heel cushioning, for example. I will be buying more pairs as they go on sale.

I agree with your assessment. Except I play exclusively on hard courts wear them about 4 days a week to play. I noticed the first pair I got back in early May is now showing wear on soles. So just shy of 4 months of wear. But like you, no eyelet failures and the comfort level has been really good. I wore Vapor 9/9.5s and Vapor React NXTs and honestly beside the Vapor Cage 4 (which are too narrow for my feet) - the Court Zoom NXTs are about the most plush and comfortable for me.

Mark down another broken eyelet here. Played for the first time in my pair over the weekend and noticed the issue when I was re-tying the laces after the second set. Very frustrating, as I love everything else about the shoe.

For those with broken eyelets, how many made a warranty claim with Nike? Of those, any issues?

in the past, Nike was pretty good about warrantying shoes and clothes when issues like these came up. Wondering if that’s still the same.

Warranties imply protection against normal wear and tear on an otherwise normal product

An eyelet tearing is an outright MANUFACTURING DEFECT (a.k.a. not "normal") and they should take that even more seriously

Warranties are like a luxury for using shoe a lot but being able to tie your shoe, however, is a basic necessity for using your shoe at all!

I get it. But there have been some Nike shoes that haven’t worked well. Usually either this sort of eyelet issue or popped air bubbles.

at the end of the day, unless it’s at an annoying frequency, I don’t care if I can just swap em out for another pair.

I ran into the eyelet issue too. Such a shame, as I really liked the shoe. I can’t trust it now and have been loving the Lotto’s.

Finally got around to trying these out in store — looking to replace my cage 3 since my last pair finally wore out. It's between these, cage 4s and the new barricades. These I found extremely comfortable out of the box, a few questions:

- do you notice youre more on your heels in this shoe? I'm used to feeling more of a heel to toe drop
- are the eyelets that bad, how many months are most ppl getting before they snap?
- any ankle rolling problems being higher up?
- is it true they're discontinuing the cage 4s?

Thanks.

I’m no expert tennis player, but I love these shoes!
I definitely feel more in the heel.
I own 6 pair of this shoe. I have only had 2 with broken eyelets. To fix the problem, I just drill a hole where I feel like the eyelet should be. It seems to work.
As for my ankles, my feet have never felt better. I don’t really feel the heel higher than my forefoot. I’m 45, 225 and 6’. We’re all different, but these shoes fit me really good.
I never played in the cage 4. Previous shoe I played in before were the gp turbo. I liked those but they just played tight in the toe box.

-100% NOT on heels more
-eyelets not bad for me personally but I lace rather gently
-no ankle roll (despite appearances, this feels LOWER than both the cades and the cage 4s, althought not as low as the cage 3s)
-eventually, that model has been going for 4 years it must must be time soon

Quick Q: are you all popping eyelets when your are lacing and cinching the shoes to tie them?

OR… are there popping when you are playing and say pressed wide and stressing out the shoe?

Just got my first pair on tonight and right when I synced up the laces on the right pair, the top left eyelid snap..I read about the problem before on here but wouldn’t think it would snap right away. Should’ve sticked to having the eyelid holes within the shoe itself, or this wouldn’t be a problem.

Sorry that happened. I like these shoes so much!
Besides sending them back, a cheap fix is to just pierce a hole where the the eyelet should be, and run the shoelace through it.
I only do that because the first time it happened to me it took a month to get a replacement.
Hopefully next year’s model will have a better lacing system.

Sorry to hear that... But just to offer a perspective, I have 3 pairs that I rotate through and I must be doing something wrong or it's dumb luck but I've yet to break any of my shoes' lacing system.

Yeah, I probably will end up doing that. Wish that was the case when the model was still in the production process.

Probably the latter, but I was slightly too aggressive when pulling up on the laces either way, so noted next time to a be a little gentle haha

Thanks for the info. What did you use to pierce the new hole? Awl or leather punch tool?

And how far from the edge did you make the hole?

Anyone figure out a DIY replacement for the laceholder straps themselves?
