Nike Decline

Is it just me or has Nike lost some of its luster? I have been a Nike fan for many years. I remember my next store neighbor, who was a nationally ranked player, back in 1975 getting Nike shoes in the mail. I was just a little kid. When I was in jr high back in the around 1980 everyone had the white Nike shoes with the blue swoosh.

I remember the days of Sampras, Agassi, and McEnroe all wearing Nike. Even the denim shorts were cool!

My kids both played tennis and my 22 year old was a nationally ranked player and later played college tennis. We loved the RF shirts with the welded seams. We also liked the material of the shirt. I had numerous pairs of the Nike Oscillate shoes. All of us wore Nike Vapor 9 shoes then the Vapor 9.5.

Today me and my kids, who are now adults, have lost interest. We have tried to like the newer Nike shoes and apparel but the spark is just not there. I hate it but I have started buy things other than Nike.

You are not alone my friend...On and Hoka are taking a ton of market share from Nike in running shoes, and in general Nike seems to have switched to a retro brand trying to grow their direct business, and not investing in making great products like they used to. The new Vapors are testimony to that on the tennis front, and even their sponsored tennis players seem to be playing with older generation shoes.

I feel the same way as you.

Nike is a company that has lost touch with what it's consumers want.
