I just bought three Nike Dri-Fit Shirts. I've noticed that something smell is pretty nasty.

Its kind of like some chemical?? on shirt.

After wash and dry, I smell that again. It seems like wont go away..

Anyone noticed this kind of smell on your poly shirt??

maybe i am too picky about this smell. Is it just me can smell that ???

I've found that almost all the brands of polyester sports shirts, like Dri-Fit, ClimaCool, ClimaLite, PlayDry, etc. all tend to have that smell.

I've had good luck with the odor. Then again, I do not wear Nike.

Try skipping the fabric softener (it breaks down the fibers).
Skip the dryer, too (it really is not necessary for this fabric). Just hang dry for like an hour.

Yes, it is the smell of bacteria or common crotch rot. Method brand laundry detergent and fabric softener seem to reduce the smell. May help if you shower before playing tennis or at least daily. Still wonder how that rotten egg smell was in a new shirt unless someone wore them, returned the shirts with tags and BO, and no one noticed. NAH! http://www.methodhome.com/products/detail.php?prodName=detergent_fair

Bingo.

I never dry them. I always hang dry and I've never had any problem with odors.

Seriously, before that Method detergent and fabric softener, those shirts were OH, DEAR collectors, cabbage sprout heaven. That Febreze stuff works well too.

One more piece of laundry advice from my wife:
when the last wash cycle is done, do not let your clothes sit in the washer. Hang the shirts up right away.
She also added that an hour was too generous. They hang dry in about thirty minutes. Twenty with the windows open.
