Nike Has Given Up on Tennis

If you're on Facebook then please check out the Nike Andre Agassi Challenge Court Fan Club.

We're a group of over one thousand.
More than one thousand is a very small number considering the population of playing tennis. And I have doubt that among those slightly over one thousand, how many are that into Agassi retro stuff, let alone wearing it head to toe. Many of them maybe just a loose follower and may not even bother to buy the products even if Nike retroes them someday. As I have always said, you like it or not, Nike is not that into tennis anymore. I think we all agree with that. For me, I have moved on and purchased a lot Lacoste stuff for tennis apparel recently. I vote against Nike Tennis using my own money. I guess you shall also move on if you find their stuff dull instead of babbling for retroing Agassi every single day.

Yeah, he fails to recognize that he may really be the only one or two who are that into agassi retro gears. I believe there will be a bunch of people buy into a few certain pieces of Agassi gear if it retros. I may be one of those. But I doubt if there will be anyone head to toe like him or even interest in doing that.
The way things are going Agassi and his retro line will soon be the new poster boy for the Nike Pickleball line

This is a company that let Roger f*%#cking Federer walk out the door.
That tells you everything you need to know about how they view tennis

I think they've been more than fair with Rafa and the new guys

It was just Fed they didn't value

@Babolast am I remembering this incorrectly, or was Rafa supposed to leave Nike at some point a couple years ago? I feel like we discussed that in here and I also read some rumors elsewhere

They let Agassi go to adidas and play a USO final wearing 3 stripes form head to toe, hahahaha
Took a while and now Andre is back where he belongs. Maybe Fed goes back, too, after nike buys ON, ha

Never understood this forums obsession with kits. Nike is not going to invest in tennis apparel when 90% of rec players are going to play in Nike Pro shorts and a legend/graphic tee. The masses care less about tennis specific clothing.

As for sneakers the cage 4 is still way better than most of the durability sneakers on the market they are just a tad ugly. The main competitor Gel Res 8s are stiff bricks and we will likely get Cage 5s after Rafa retires. Vapor 11s are a flop but getting replaced in January. Vapor pros are very good imo just need an extra eyelet to combat the heel slippage you get if you use a performance insole.

Couldn't agree more here

The last Nike shoes I had were basketball shoes and running shoes. I switched to Under Armour for basketball and Hoka for running.

I have never bought Nike tennis shoes, nor do I have any Nike apparel or accessories for tennis. I mostly wear Adidas and have one pair of Asics clay shoes.

No more Nike.

This video was incredible. Wild to think even basketball (the most tech heavy Nike sport) gear experts feel this way. Really trust night wing, he’s been around forever
Actually reminds me of another video that I saw on reddit yesterday. Was more about fashion in general, but the girl doing the video highlighted how a lot of brands have been drastically cutting the quality of their products. Cheaping out on laces or zippers for example, more polyester and synthetic fabrics, etc. It's frustrating for sure as a consumer. Especially when you're still paying high prices for stuff that feels cheap or doesn't last.

I bought this same shirt NWT from **** for fairly close to what it retailed at back in 2013. The glue attaching the zipper peeled off so now the zipper is detached with a big gap. Think I played in it maybe a dozen times (possibly more but honestly don't remember. I've only had it a few years).

I have not used Nike anything for a long time and now with their injection of their "woke" politics into their marketing, I will NEVER wear anything of theirs again. NB and Under Armor for me now.

@gino , not sure if you're a Mark Sansait fan or not, but I heard a podcast interview with him and he said basically the exact same thing as you regarding Nike tennis shoes. He used to love them, but in the last ten years he feels as though their quality and tech has declined substantially.

I don’t do much tennis YouTube but I respect this guy, plays a lot of tourneys & clearly knows gear a bit. It’s sad to me most of the midsole tech they’ve deployed has negatively regressed over the course of 10 years. I just bought the kd15 for $70 new on flea bay , it has a full length zoom strobel coupled with react foam. Meanwhile, the $160 VC4 and $170 vapor 11 have measly forefoot zoom bags coupled with cheap phylon. Oh and the kicker, our sport is almost entirely played on concrete stateside while hoops gets the hardwood, soft sport court, etc to dampen the impact on the joints
