Nike Mac Attack.

I finally found a picture of these mothers. It seems to me these fell in the '84-'86-ish range. Johnny Mac had worn out his plain blue Nike court shoes, but Air Trainer 1 didn't yet explode on the scene. Mac Attack was a sick shoe. The grey one here was a little nicer than the white, but the white was cool, too. I remember my bro left a pair of whites around my house for a couple years and I loved them, but they were slightly too big to play in.

bring hem in orange neon swoosh and i take 3 pairs...

At least Nike brought back the Air Trainer (in grey and black) that Mac made famous. And it's not a cheap retro either, like the Agassi Air Tech Challenge retros. (And at least they don't make tennis racquets, yet. But then, some of their golf clubs are good enough for Tiger. Okay, Phil Knight---Just Do It!)

Nike would sell more shoes with this color instead of "Dawn of the dead" or "Transformer" versions...

^^^agree

releasing retro tennis legendary sneakers in dumb bling collorways for wankstas is flat out stupid.

the only ones allowed are the retros of challenge court (but even there they managed to ruin it with that black orange cactus atc III)

I like the Nike Air Flare better.

That is a Thing of Beauty

I had two pairs of these puppies back in 87 from the Nike outlet store. They had absolutely no cushioning and I had to add a Dr. Scholl's insole which then made them rather nice by that day's standards. Cool shoes - they had more of a nub sole to them instead of herringbone if I recall.

This was the second generation of mid-cuts for Mac. He started wearing some white ones with some blue trim a few years earlier. I remember the add in World Tennis magazine.

The Mac outfits at this time were great.

all these were awesome...the Mac Attack and then the Air Trainer. I gotta admit though the new Air Trainer just wasn't as comfy as I remembered the older ones being (tough to wear the 3/4 top now). that makes me worry what the Mac Attack would feel like now.

That Mac attack had the full board last and then the sole. As I am 20+ years older, I know my joints would suffer. :)

I agree on the trainers too. I had them originally and tried on the latest. They did not feel the same. I wish they would make the Air Tech Challenges again that were actually suitable for tennis.

I actually bought the green and the blue of the new Air Trainers...getting that old feeling as soon as I saw them. I have worn the 2 pairs a total of about 6 times...once to hit. It just didn't feel right on me. I remember those not needing any "break-in" and were just awesome on the feet. These...a bit rough. I have around 50 pairs of tennis shoes (pisses my wife off), so I find myself being less patient and less apt to give them the chances I would have in my youth.
