Nike Players Wearing Black And Yellow Striped Wristbands

Is there a reason for this? I noticed on the niketown.com website they are promoting this thing for Lance Armstrong and his foundation, and they are selling some kind of yellow wristband for charity. But it's not the same wristband that the tennis players are wearing. I was curious if there was some kind of connection? It almost looks like these wristbands are the sport-style version, because the ones they are selling on Lance's website are a single yellow wristband and not the normal wristband all in black with a yellow stripe that you see the tennis players wearing. I was wondering if it was some kind of respect thing towards Lance and his foundation or if it was just simply a new Nike fashion statement. It looks more like just a new Nike look to me. I noticed Andre, and Moya were wearing these on the first day of play at the French. And I'm expecting to probably see some of the other guys wearing it. Anyways, they are kinda cool looking and I was wondering if anyone knew if they were going to be put out? Can anyone shed some light? Later

Even fed's wristbands are different - Nike swoosh is smaller and runs across the width of the double band rather than the length. Small change, but we notice things like that around these parts.

Jings, you're right, I noticed that bout Fed too. Wow, did you see Moya's outfit? Black and yellow is flashy as a mo. I like it though, but whatever, lol. These new wristbands are strange though....

Black and yellow all a bit too waspy perhaps - and I don't mean WASP. I'm not a big black fan though generally ... but have got the Fed shirt in yellow on the way ... now that thing rocks!

Actually, in the photos I've seen "tennis sucks", the yellow stripe looks like it could be part of the wristband itself. Who knows, just like everything else, I'm sure the players have these especially made for them. With the whole idea of having respect for Lance Armstrong and his charity. But I really doubt it was one wristband on top of the other. It doesn't look that way in photos, plus when the players go to wipe their forehead I'm sure they don't want to have a plastic thing stratching against their head. Also, it probably wouldn't stay on during regular play or with the wipe of a forehead. Later

Not that I'm going to go search for a bunch of pics to see if it is a seperate band or part of the sweat band..oh wait, i just did. The yellow stripe as part of the sweatband does make more sense.

I also think it is a LIVESTRONG bracelet. Moya is wearing it on his non-dominant hand. He probably wipes sweat with his right hand, I do.

The Live Strong bracelets are not plastic, they are rubber. So, they wouldn't scratch anyone's forehead unless someone purposely tried to do so with one of them. Anyhow, I honestly doubt the players would wear the bracelet on top of a wristband. The way the bracelets fit, the wristbands would have to be very tight.
