Nike Spring 2013 Predictions/Hopes/Wants Thread

I noticed an interesting thing :
Nadal crews for Madrid/Rome/RG are very different from the retail versions :
- Nadal wears an "all-mesh" crew, while the retail has a softer fabric ans has only mesh on side vent-panels and back.
- Also, on the retail version the colored stripe is closer to the neck.

Raph, that is some top grade sleuthing. Good job. I can't remember the last time Nadal's outfit (other than the fact his shoes always are) was different to retail, so this is interesting.

It could be due to the fact some members of the public think mesh feels cheap (I'm thinking of Aneto's comments re the current Fed shirts) so they make them solid, while the pros just want maximum ventilation. Clearly, though, n the absence of other examples this theory is full of holes (excuse the pun :)).

Thanks :)
It's the same for Spring crews : all-mesh for nadal, while the retail (I have them) have softer material on front.

Also noticed that Nadal has a visible normal seams (on shoulders), while retail has flat invisible seams... which is weird cause flat seems are supposed to be better and non distractive for Pro-players.

According to Nike anyway. Rafa would appear to think otherwise/really not care

Hi my friend,

I don't think is cheap for the mesh. It is really cheap. I have all and compare them. Federer's top yesterday was wet in the third game(never see this happen with him before) It's like Nadal's fuego shirt from AO 2011.

The material observation is spot-on, but I'm not sure about the neck stripe. Check Tennis Warehouse.

Edit: Nevermind. Even the Nike.com page shows the inverted stripe version. TW should change their image.

I've emailed TW in the past (one item arrived with a different color swoosh) - they are obligated to display the pictures Nike (and all other vendors) supply.

I bought the non-Rafa, generic fiberglass shirt - it's all mesh. Not sure why that would be considered cheap. It's effective venting.

Retail version = Nadal's version

Oh !
That's weird then !!!
I guess the website where I took the neck picture must have a sample crew then, not final version
How about the material on yours ? All mesh or softer fabric ?

@Aneto :
Is it the fiberglass crew we see behind the platinum one ?
Would you also post a pic of it please?
Thanks ;)

I don't like materials. Similar to Federer. I like the quality of the shirts from Fall 2012 (sunburst and khaki)

Federer's tops are wetter down the front nowdays purely because he's wearing the vest underneath. The vest stays damp longer underneath so the shirt on top isn't able to dry as readily so wet patches show up more.

@ lukhas

thanks...nadals shirt would be interesting. i`m hoping of a yellow blue combination....real yellow and real blue....no neon colors

Aneto, I guess there are some "2 stripes" versions on sale too. or maybe "promo version".
This one was found on the auction site :

Haven't seen them anywhere else for the moment, so here the Neo Turquoise premier wristbands as worn by Dimitrov at the AO and Ryan Harrison at the AO and IW.
