Nike tennis shoes for wide feet

Hi which Nike tennis shoes are better for wide feet?

From researching the forum i have concluded the only ones are the vapor cage 4 and the vapor x (now discontinued)

I dont think my feet are very very wide as my current shoe is the air max smash from 2008 (i didnt play tennis regularly for about 10 years until this past year)

Are there any others you recommend?

The issue i have is less just on the sides it is underneath the shoe as the shoes base is not wide enough the foam outter edges of shoes press up on my left foot under the 4th and 5th toe but further back at the forefoot part if that makes sense.

Basically any shoe which somewhat goes inward as part of the design causes a problem as i am essentially stepping on hard outter edge midsole which is hard.

The right foot is fine though. I was contemplating trying to find some 90s style nike basketball sneakers which come in low form as i think shoes were wider back then.

None. Check out ASICS Gel8 wide or Mizuno wave exceed SL 2.

There are still a good amount of Vapor X Wides and Court Lite Wides floating around.

If you know where there are Vapor X Wides, please tell -- I can't find them in 11.5. Also wondering if TW has any informaiton on when Nike will be making anything in Wide again in the new Vapor Pro or Vapor NXT?

TW used to sell an all white version, but I haven't seen it in a long time. It also wasn't that wide, felt more like an E versus 2E.

Cages could work for wider feet.
Yes i tried some on yesterday but was shocked at how wide my feet may be now

I normally take a size 10 and they had a 11.5 so i tried it on for the hell of it and the 11.5 it seems was wide enough for me. The issue is the length cos im only a 10.

It felt stable though on foot i should have tried walking forward to see if it causes am issue i think the high ankles and sock fit is why it seems stable even though a size and half up !

Yes my issue too i am looking at basketball nikes for hard court as it gives me more options but going a size bigger

So far vapor cage 4s are my only options as the vapor x is discontinued

Look at giant retailors with apps such as Amazon, Google shop, Shoes, Overstock, Goat, e'Bay, etc.

It also helps to turn on search notifications. Once you get an email or text, the shoes will be gone within hours.

You can set them on ****, but not many show (early in pandemic I stocked up in anyhting that appeared -- nothing last year. Now stuck with New Balance and Nike really needs to issue some new Wide tennis shoes -- even though as someeone pointed out they aren't very wide.

I agree with "NONE"

I had to change from using Nike for 8yrs to something else now..... It's a shame as their newer models come out, they get ever more narrow. Look at K-Swiss. They have some solid models that are note considered "wide" but just a big more generous in the toe box.

This is a "generous medium" fit. I use it and it's a great shoe.

Second these. Not had a great fitting pair of shoes since Nike Vapor 9.5. I got the K Swiss Hypercourt Supreme in my normal size (UK10) and are super comfy out of the box for my 2E feet. Also picked up some Asics Gel Solution Speed 2 UK10.5 off the auction site which feel amazing, if a touch long.

Don't make them like they used to..!

A second vote for the GP Turbo. They are quite wide. About as wide as the Solecourt Boost

Zoom Cage 4s are okay but not as wide as the GP Turbo. All the others are pretty narrow

source = me and I have had all the recent versions of Nike tennis shoes courtesy of a friend who works there and I have wide feet. Not super wide but wider than the standard D

The React Vapor Pro NXT are the narrowest so avoid those. The Air Zoom Vapor Pro are also very narrow.

I’m not sure what Nike is thinking here with how narrow their tennis shoes are. I have no issues with their basketball shoes but many of the tennis shoes are not wearable for me and I don’t have super wide feet. I am sticking to the GP Turbo or basketball shoes. The basketball shoes are generally fine since I’m not a toe or foot dragger but the soles wear out much quicker on hard courts.

Why just Nike? Plenty of good brands out there. Gel resolution 8 is one of the best tennis shoes right now and they come in wide.
Because i generally only wear nike clothing and a bit fussy about fashion and having everything matching

If i go for adidas i will need a whole new wardrobe as i dont have any adidas tennis clothing and dont want to particularly unless they start making their bandanas like nike's 2 tone ones

Apparently it is to do with design and fhe fact there are more people with narrow feet complaining about the opposite problem plus their designs going forth are narrow even in basketball

Really?

When i tried on a turbo gp it felt narrower and looked narrower than the cage 4's

Even comparing the soles the width of the cage 4s look wider.

The gp turbos look like long shoes similar shape to an air max 97 but even so the toe box issue height makes gp turbo a no go.

My feet must be ridiculously wide because i am only size 9 uk length but i need a 10.5 uk width!

Which basketball shoes do you wear also?

Because i am looking at basketball outdoor shoes to give me more options but looking at the range i have a similar issue i tried on a leborn 18 lows (not for tennis) and needed a 10.5 uk when im only a uk 9.

I ordered some nike renew elevate 2's as it has good reviews for outdoor use and cheap but were size 10 uk but seem 'ok' and not too long so maybe a 10.5 uk will be fine.

The cage 4s were just way too long in 10.5 even if the width is good.

Can you recommend some basketball shoes please from nike i can try which are good for wide feet + for outdoor use only otherwise they'll just wear out quick.

The list of options i have so far for basketball and tennis are:

Vapor x

Vapor cage 4

Nike renew elevate 2

I’m between a D and 2E, and found the toe box ridiculously tight on the GP Turbos. Width is one thing, but it’s also how pointed your foot is. Nike shoes have very pointed toe boxes
Yes this is what i found the pointed toe and toe box height was too low plus felt was narrower than the cage 4s

Also frustatingly the nike quality control is so hit and miss you can get 2 of 1 size and the fits be completely different like the cage 4s i tried on in store were good in 10.5 and would have taken them if they werent clay shoes as i need the hard court versions

I ordered the hard court version online in same size but the width was narrower than the 1 i tried. So frustrating i didnt want to keep sending them back and forth till they send 1 which is good it is less hassle if i just try in store so i can be sure the fit is ok.

I really wish nike would bring back the vapor x even the normal version apparently is wide like vapor cage 4s so the 4E extra wide must be even better but i guess the 10.5 or 11 is due next.

Part of the problem is because federer left nike and his shoe was the vapor x just before he left this year nike have less incentive to push that range now.

I have to take in consideration i may not want my shoes to be too loose cos otherwise they'll slide around

Nike have a good policy now where you can try shoes for up to 60 days and if they dont suit can return for a refund

It probably is best i test the Vapor cage 4s to see what size i actually need because a size 10.5 may be comfy width wise but cos it is too long may slide around.

My issue as mentioned in other posts is the base of the shoe not necessarily just the width

The hard outter sole on the left side is hard foam which when i step presses on my under foot so even if shoes stretch after a while on the sides that doesnt help me under neath pain wise.

it is the reason i cant wear my air max 97s as they are just too narrow and the sole underneath presses up on my outter foot

You want to create search notifications for "Nike AH9066" (Vapor X Wide) or "Nike AH9067" (Court Lite Wide).
Did you find the court lite 2 narrow too?

I bought some court lite 2 over xmas in 9.5 and 10 i can still feel the bottom of the hard sole in my left foot on the side.

Shame they will need to go back too.

Can anyone in the uk from here confirm whether the uk nike did indeed stock vapor x extra wide 4E's over a year ago?

Because if they did there is a fair chance i may be able to get and extra wide vapor 11 or something in future.

If it is america only then i probably wont unless from ****

How do we do this search notifications on which sites? Thanks

As someone mentioned save a search on 3bay app.

On amazon, create a list and add it. You should receive a notification when someone else sells it and/or the price goes down.

StockX and Goat apps, do a search for what you're looking for, and set a Want. They specialize in monitoring market value so they will be pricey. Just check out the Nadal Cage Gloves or Decima Classic values.

Been a while so sorry for the delay on the response. You must have some freaky feet :)
For me the GP Turbos are the widest Nikes, the Zoom cages are fine too but the weird angled tongue thing I don't like.

I have used many different Nike basketball shoes over the years but a word of caution on them The soles wear out quite a lot quicker than than tennis shoes. They are definitely a different rubber and must be softer because the soles wear out quickly on a hard court. I'm not a toe dragger either so I don't have to worry about the uppers or sides wearing out.

That said, most recently I have been using the Air Zoom GT Runs. They are expensive but I like them and I don't pay retail so it works for me. Those might be a bit much to try and see if they work out. I have also used the KD shoes....I just don't like the current ones. I will probably try the Giannis ones next, they are pretty reasonable, around $80 retail here in the US.

Some others have mentioned it but maybe the Nike line isn't going to work due to how typically narrow they can be.

i think maybe the issue is i tried on a US11 for the gp turbo and compared it to the US11.5 cage 4.

I think maybe basketball is a no go unless temporary cos the courts i play on are very sticky and grippy so will wear shoes out fast so i prob need to stick to tennis only.

The width is not on the side of my toes but more in the midsole middle part of the shoe.

I think im stuck with cage 4s and if i can find wide vapor x's

I prob need to take advantage of nikes 60 day return even if you use them to work out what size i need cos im just guessing by trying them on and comfort but it is possible the 10.5 will slide around.

I wish Nike would make wider options

We all need to get together and email them directly and on twitter so they get the message we need more wide 2E and 4E styles

I have no idea about the Vapor X but I will plug basketball shoes again. I have used both of these and they are relatively inexpensive

Both of those are relatively inexpensive here in the US, not sure what your cost or selection is in the UK. You may luck out, many of Nikes basketball shoes outside the US have what they call PE or performance engineered outsoles which are designed for hardcourts. Essentially similar/same outsole material as the hardcourt tennis shoes. I guess outdoor basketball courts are popular outside the US so they have the PE outsole option

Anyway, if you can find those shoes for that price it may be worth a flyer on them. The basketball shoes are wider than the tennis or running shoes.

It says it runs large but is that length rather than width

In my experience, the best option if you have a wide or wide-ish foot is to just avoid Nike altogether. They rarely fit well and there are always better options

Nike is hopeless for wide foot after depart with roger. Vapor X wide was the last and only good fit for wide feet. Cage 2 and lunarballistic Was good but they are gone for years and narrower than vapor x wide.

for current model, court ff2 and solution speed ff2 are surprisingly wider and comfortable than gel resolution 8 wide.
the on roger pro is very wide. They are still available on Swiss site due it’s 1/3 more than us price.

at wide feet, durability and cost should not be bothered. We are lucky to find one comfortable to wear.
