Nike Training/Basketball Shoes?

Does anyone know how the Nike Flight 89' hold up for hardcourt tennis? It's a mid-cut training/basketball shoe.

Does anyone here play with non-tennis shoe?
Surely if it's build for basketball then it should be okay for tennis right? Both sport incorporate much of the same side-side front to back movement. And the extra ankle support helps imo.

How hard are you on shoes? I can burn the sole off basketball shoes on a hardcourt in 3hrs of practice. The rubber on basketball shoes is very grippy, but not durable at all. Also, as I'm a toe dragger (specifically on my forehand) I end up ripping the seems on the toe area very fast.

Have you tried wearing ankle braces with regular tennis shoes? Might work for you.

In my experience, b-ball shoes don't hold up well.
I have a pair of jordan 21's.
after i match i saw tearing... after continued use it seemed unbearable!
The toe section was badly damaged and im not a toe dragger.

Try the air zoom trainers if you like the basketball look for a tennis shoe. I've had mine for a few weeks and I REALLY enjoy them. They are comfortable and light and give good support. Suprisingly, mine are holding up really well. I just bought them cause they looked sweet.

I played in some Air Force 1's and they are fine. I suppose if the stitching is not exposed on the outside near the sole area too much they will last for a while.

The idea of trying hi/mid sounds pretty cool since it is easier than wearing ankle braces.

Ditto on this. I bought these as casual shoes because of the looks (got the white/blue ones). After wearing them a few times at practice I realized what terrific shoes they are -- really nice cushioning, support, roomy toe box and no heel slippage. No high-tech wow factor, but definitely a great shoe for me. They are in rotation with my Barricade V's and SHT 306's (favorite match day shoes and the best shoe I've ever worn).
