Shocked tw can’t give any degree of an update on these. Like is Nike really combing through tennis gear forums policing the release info of a tennis shoe ?

So... from a marketing perspective, it makes sense for Nike to maybe holdback the release of the 9.5. This way, the recently released Vapor 11, and Vapor Pro 2 (I STILL don't know why that shoe exists) can pick up some steam and build a fan base since they've already spent real money developing and manufacturing those two lines of shoes.

Because they KNOW the 9/9.5 is so revered, a simultaneous release would absolutely cannibalized the rest of their shoes. I think at this point, they're just trying to recoup the development and manufacturing costs of the Vapor 11 and Vapor Pro 2 first.

I HOPE I am wrong.

Almost entirely sure you’re correct. Shame really. The consumers savvy enough to know about the 9.5 reissue likely won’t even buy the vp2 or vp11 in the first place given all the brutal feedback. Those shoes are surely destined for clearance racks across the globe

Yeah, I think Nike is hoping a bunch of people will be desperate enough to buy some of these lousy shoes in the meantime - to tide them over till these drop. I'm good, I'll wait. (Nice try, Nike).

I hope they promoted whoever in the marketing department to delay the launch of the re-release 9.5. Because that person was just fixing Nike's original asinine decision to drop EVERYTHING on the same date.

I have a hard time believing this wasn’t the plan from the beginning (“delaying” the re-release).

I don't think Nike would have the nerves to blatantly false advertise... right?

my huge fear is that they just shelved it altogether. weve seen this before with the vapor X foamposite. never released. samples went straight to discount stores

I...wouldn't put it past them...

Yeah, it's gotta be in the delta. But...if they pull a "just kidding" with this release...how many people will write them off entirely?

Well... they started writing people off by slapping the brand name "VAPOR" on just about everything, I think they're trying to write off the rest with this stunt and make sure people disregard Nike Tennis in general.

ive been a brand loyal nike tennis consumer through ups and downs for about 15-20 years. if this doesnt materialize i will seriously consider moving to asics after my GP turbos dry up

the fact theyve diluted the "vapor" brand to just apply to nearly all tennis shoes is deplorable. a case study in marketing failure

have they even announced it? pretty sure we're just going off leaked pics they could easily change their minds, nothing has been announced

Good point, they may have never official announced the dates. But it's been certainly leaked and and circulated.

I don’t get why people love these 9.5s so much, I’ve had many pairs of them and while they are ok shoes they arnt anything special at all in my opinion

You must think they're solid if you've had many pairs!

For me, it's the best tennis sneaker I've ever had: the fit, the traction, the speed...it's the only tennis sneaker I've had where I feel totally locked in, like the shoe is an extension of my foot. The GOAT.

The silence in this thread is deafening
Yea because in post #6 in this thread @TW Staff said there would be more colors coming on Jan. 11 but then later, after the 11th is here, suddenly went "we can not share any information at this time". Like what did the original post #6 mean then? Really irritating when people speak in such cryptic ways

In their defense... I doubt TW has any say on the matter and this sounds like an embargo from Nike. Probably someone smart in their office telling them a simultaneous release of a long awaited, much requested, highly revered, fan service product with negligible development costs is going to spell disaster for a NEW product, in which they still have to recoup the development costs.

In other words, someone smart told them to hold off on the 9.5 because the 11 and Pro 2 need to break even first. Because ain't nobody is going to touch the 11 and Pro 2 if the 9.5 is out at the same time.

My conspiracy belief is the new Vapor 11/Vapor Pro 2 design was influenced by how easily it could conceal the Pro's wearing vapor 9/9.5/x underneath

Google "vapor x glove" and you'll get a sense of what I'm on about

I doubt that. Some of the pros have custom shoes (for example, Federer played with a shoe that elements of both the Vapor 6 and 9), and supposedly 90+ percent of them use custom insoles, but I doubt many have hidden shoes. Some who were playing in the 11s have already switched to the Pro 2s or back to older shoes. What's the point of doing that if it was custom anyways?

Bencic is still wearing 9.5, Dimitrov still wearing 9’s and there’s Kai still wearing custom 9.5 when he’s playing. There some still wearing the much beloved 9.5/9

Because Nike wants people to feel like they have what Pro's have. And a huge amount of Pro gear is player exclusive or custom.
Same reason players use retail paintjobs but not retail racquets

What I'm saying, though, is if a player like Rune has gone back the Vapor Pro 1, why would the Vapor Pro 2 or 11, etc. have been a fake? He wouldn't go back to the 1s in that case...

I was responding to why it seems like less players are being spotted in prior Vapor models. My response was a conspiracy of my own devising wherein Nike designed a shoe that could conceal another shoe under it.
Hence why the Vapor Pro 2 and 11 look very basic and eerily similar.
They've clearly heard the uproar of people demanding old models and know it is a rabbit hole they'd rather not go down.

Madison Keys as well. Still.,.the list seems to be dwindling. Can’t help but wonder if there’s something to that.

Stephens (I know she's no longer sponsored) and Fruhvirtova sisters still use the Vapor X.

I also noticed Vondroušová's Nike Vapor Pro have a different out/mid sole to compared to the retail version and looked like a Zoom Court Pro out/mid sole instead of the typical Vapor X / Pro 1.

Like others have mentioned, a lot of the shoes that pros wear have been modified just like with the rackets being 'endorsed'
