Nike Vapor 9.5 Tour!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IMO, Nike absolutely killed it with the Vapor 9, and now because it was such a successful shoe, they're gonna ride out the wave of success with a Vapor 9.5 for 2014 instead of a Vapor 10. Im a huge sneakerhead and throughout all of the tennis shoes I've ever had, the Vapor 9's are the absolute best not only in terms of comfort and court performance, but also in style and absolute beauty. Super pumped for the 9.5s instead of a complete redesign.

What do y'all think?

Although having said that, when people got a first look at the Vapor 9, a thread was started here and almost everybody hated it.
Same every time.

I personally like the new look. Especially the black ones Fed wore pre US Open. I will probably end up getting some because I'm a sucker for new shoes that release haha

I hate Fed's colorway for the AO14. Red with a weird splash of blue/black? No. But I'm still excited for the shoe as I though the 9s were the best tennis shoes I wore to date. I'd only knock on mesh durability but that's it.

the new splash graphics are ok, but I'm more skeptical about the lack of the finger system.. it seems like instead of individual fingers adjusted by the laces, its a big flat side of the shoe all hitched up by the laces... be interested to see how they maintain the biggest thing about the vapor 9's which are the finger lace system

If they keep the performance of Vapor9, I kind of like the hidden fingers. But not fan of the splash graphic. Much prefer solid colour.

Seeing what Nike is lining up for 2014 in terms of shoes, I will buy another pair or two of 4.3, maybe one 4.3 and one Vapor 9.
Initially I was thinking about Nole's red US Open, but I'd rather get the 4.3 from Cinci/Mont and the Vapor 9 from US open and leave Adidas for 2014 ( though the B8's looks very cheap to me compared to 7 ).

The Vapor 9 SL version is now called the "Clay" version.

If you ever wore the SLs, you know why thy stopped making them for general distribution - they were as hot as hell inside (like putting your feet in plastic bags). The Clay version stops the dirt from getting into the shoe through the mesh in the toe area, but they don't breathe either.

the SL last longer, but still have hard court outsoles. they where just as hot as barricades. the current "SL" only have clay out soles. which is not so great.

Ps. I bought 4 pairs of the white blue sl version and am on my last pair. they are the best pair of tennis shoes I have ever owned. I just wish nike would still make them. I bought the US open pair of vapros and the mest part is already starring to get holes in it.

I don't know why people moan about your feet getting hot when you wear shoes playing tennis or any sport for that matter. I've been using both SL and mesh V9s and they're both the same.

You want cool feet? Wear a couple of refrigerators on your feet that'll keep you cool. You might find it a struggle move about though... or wear flip flops and just lounge by a swimming pool.

But doesn't the Clay version have a "special" outsole designed specifically for clay? You can't just assume the Clay versions replaced the SL versions entirely.

the last pair of barricades I bought where the 6's and the where way hotter than the SL.

and yes now the only come in SL if you get a clay out sole. which stinks because there is a clear loss of durability.

Spring 9.5 at first glance do not look very inviting at all, but for summer all 3 colors are going to look great. Very much like the launch of the Vapor 9, the first color way for Australia was terrible and dull, but after that well its clear everyone is a big fan. I see the same thing happening again this time. I really like the summer V 9.5!

Asinine comment that should be accompanied by some Tinactin. Do you play tennis wearing a t-shirt or a wool jumper? Clearly shoes that feel cooler and dryer are preferred by everyone but you. That's why sport manufacturers spend so much money designing shoe with ventilation to manage sweat and heat as much as possible while retaining durability and support.

Expect to have them bumped down when the new Vapors come out on Oct. 1st. Confirmed by TW on a different thread (of the arrival of the new colorways, not the price drop).

Is that the new vapor? Or just a fan made mock up?

If so, I think the 9.0 design wise is nicer. But that being said, an awesome colour combo will make even an average shoe look sick!

I'm hoping for a black vapors shoe with volt/lime green accents. My favaourite combo.

No it's just a joke if you can't take it then that's just too bad. You must be the life and soul of any party.

I play tennis with tennis shirt and shorts because it's designed to. Now if you want me to be even more specific, the Nike Federer polos or Adidas Barricade variety. They are fitted and absorb sweat well and keeps you cool. But if you're playing for a few hours, you will sweat - that's what happens. Same goes for shoes, if you're complaining of getting sweaty and hot playing sports, then sit your ar5e down by the TV with a glass of beer.

You need to work on your jokes big fella. What you posted was a non-sequitur as nobody was complaining about sports making people sweat- people were talking about how certain items exacerbate the issue, which you even seem to agree with. Learn to follow simple conversations and life's many doors will open.

so overall...SL has more durability but the difference is negligible considering how hot they get (or how much more ventilation the mesh version has)?

i'm interested in purchasing a pair for Har-Tru play...but considering the clay version are only available in SL...

I hope so too. Those Adaptive Fit fingers actually made a difference. I hope Nike puts some interesting designs on the side now since there's some flat surface there now.

I am with you on this. Literally, they are portable "Foot Saunas".

The SL is definitely hotter. I had both and there is definitely a difference, just common sense. The non clay version has open mesh (air flows), the clay version is enclosed with non breathable syn-leather (little air flows). No brainer.

How do you know how they are gonna look and which color? Which website did you check?

Since there's a large side panel, I'd better see some intriguing designs from Nike utilizing that panel that replaces the Adaptive Fit "Fingers".
