Nike Vapor Pro 2 (Hard Court) on Artificial Grass

Hi,
Im looking to buy Nike Vapor Pro 2 Hard Court tennis shoes. Has anyone used these on artificial grass/turf and are they okay on this surface. The turf Im playing at has sligthly sand but not too much. So I was thinking whether the sole pattern on VP2 HC shoes is too ”weak” for turf or is it okay. I would not like to buy the Clay Herringbone version as I also play 15-20% my time on Hard courts inside during the winter. Also I would not like to buy separately HC and Clay shoes (I know this comes with concessions).

I play usually 2-3 hours per week and Im not a competitive player but I have been playing tennis for 35 years so I know how to play in semi-high level. Im also a baseline player if that helps to form an opinion :)

Thanks in advance for sharing any experiences you might have on Vapor Pro 2’s HC on artificial grass/turf :)

Or could it be perhaps an option to go with the Clay Sole -model and use it on hardcourts too? Usually I have avoided this just because Clay -models seem to wear out faster on hardcourts as they use softer rubber compound.

But in my understanding VP2 Clay model has same rubber compound as in HC model. Clay model seems to have less rubber in outsole though due to the herringbone pattern. Also Im not a slider on HC so I would not be worried this.

Or is also bad idea to the VP2 clay model on hardcourts? :)

Yes, for all the reasons you mentioned regarding durability.

Clay shoes will last forever on actual clay, or grass/turf.

If you only play on a hard court for 15-20% of the time, your all-court shoes will last forever as well.

I just think it will be worth the money. The hard court versions could last your 2-3 years if you only use it so little.

Or maybe just buy something like Nike GP Challenge Pro or 1. I have tried those and they feel a bit bulky but the outsole seemed to be quite durable in both models and had more of an all-court pattern in both of those models.

In my experience, hc shoes on synthetic end up with lots of slipping and falling. I skinned my knees a few times before I learned it the hard way. If you move aggressively like me, clay (or omni if you can find) shoes are the only option for synthetic courts unless they have no sand.
